Strange engine problem...

It has been few weeks since I used the car so went out in it today. When I got out of the store I was, my car started normally, put on air con and while in idle to car started to struggle to keep running, even pressing the gas did nothing. Turned off A/C and engine. Restarted again and just after 4 seconds without turning on a/c the engine started trying to die, I kept it alive with some gas while having a sure misfire cause of the "bangs" out my exhaust. The car struggled to make power but managed to arrive home. Any idea what this could be? Will try to do some test tomorrow but hope is just a sensor going bad...

Might be the MAF or Flowmeter, as we kindheartedly call them. My DX did that exact thing last year. If you need to move the car, disconnect the MAF plug from it. The car will run without it, but it will stall the first time u start it. It will make very little power and give you horrible mpgs. I don't recommend it, so only run the car if you absolutely need it running...( comes from the guy that ran 6 months like that, lol ). Also the coolant sensor going bad gives almost the same results

I just had a similar problem with my MSP the other day. I started it up one morning and it ran absolutely horrible. Although the engine wasn't trying to die, it was running extremely "bumpy" and released small amounts of smoke from the tailpipe. Any updates on this?

could be lots of different things? Any codes yet? Coils can go through 'death rolls' that do this kind of thing, but you'll often get a p0300 code (random misfire/multiple cylinders) immediately...the A/C issue makes it seem load induced, so i would check the MAF like mentioned, as well as the IAT...the coolant sensor is used to switch to closed loop after engine warm up, so if that is bad you may be stuck with a warm engine trying to continue using the VTCS system (an annoying 'choke')...

Vacuum leaks can also give weird problems under certain conditions, as well as the EGR valve needing cleaned or replaced...

start with resetting your ecu, then trying to drive as normally as possible...hopefully it will trip a code soon, which will do a lot to help narrow it down.

I just started having a similar issue. No codes; just started happening on the way hope from work.n Did plugs 5k ago wires 40k. I had the same issue with my Mustang GT few years ago; ended up being a bad plug wire (last time I run MSD in a street car) drove me nuts! I'll clean the MAF wire. Dumped some seafoam in the tank. First time I have been this near to empty (generally refill at 1/2 tank.) I need to check the ERG also. I'll do the simple things first!

Update, well I solve part of the problem and in a big way. I had the problem continuous while running the car. The computer code(don't remember the code number) said that my culprit is the Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Solenoid.

Right now I still have the problem but it only happens when I start the car, give it some gas to keep engine running and it works perfect after that with no continuous miss fire. Now I will try to see what is still causing the problem when I start the car. I will let you know in few days when I have the time to work on it again...

Hey dude, how's it going?

You know what, I snapped one the nipples on that part, managed to krazy glue it but I was looking for a replacement... where did you find it?

Got a brand new MAF and solved the problem. So when you have a problem similar to mine, test those two parts. You may only need to replace one compared to me.

I never got a MAF code but when we unplugged it, the car worked perfectly. That's why I changed it. Got it from JR also but you need to order it. They run for 400$ but I never pay full price lol. All original parts in my car.
