Stop Tech Big Brake Kit

Has anyone upgraded to the Stop Tech St-20 big brake kit? How much of an improvement over the stock brake system compared to just getting more agressive brake pads.

Well common sense would tell you its a huge improvement. 4-piston calipers compared to a one piston set-up. So if your racing or driving the car at high speeds and the one single piston (stock set-up) decides not to work on any side, you are screwed, and are about to be involved in an unforgiving spin (depending on whether it works at all, speed at time used, how hard you clamp the other three). So I would suggest for everyone to check there break system regularly and do good maintenance if you plan on breaking the law. Secondly it says the rotor has a 328mm length. A conversion chart tells me that is nearly 13" compared to the stock 11" rotors. The only deciding factor is if you think its worth nearly $2000, and will you need it?

You only need them if you want to impress your neighbor...the MSP comes with real good brakes...you might just need some aftermarket rotors and brake pads.

^ and stainless steel lines and better brake fluid. I run Wilwood 570 hi-temp DOT3 fluid because the last time I was lapping my old brake fluid boiled and was all foamy when I bled them. My setup is fantastic now.

I don't believe you. Have you ever track tested them? Before and After? Or is this your experience from just driving around town?

Considering he has a BBK on his car, I think he has some experience with them.

the MSP stock brakes are very good just add stainless lines, fluid, and better pads and you are set for anything. I have only faded my brakes twice and its been the same road both times....if you knew the road its pretty impressive. Other than that between auto-x and any other hard driving i have done i have never seen a need for a big brake kit other than bling bling

what would be a good pad to upgrade to?

depends on you application. EBC green stuff are good along with Hawk HPS. Tripoint has a great sale going right now on Axxis pad too which is the route i am goin

i have been heari ng lately green stuff is s***. i was thinking about posi quiet. any good?

i am driving a p5 right now with green stuff on it and its not too bad nice braking for the street. I am not sure about posi quiet. I was thinking about running Axxis ultimates up front and posi quiets in the rear but i got a deal on some front ultimates and rear c-tek semi metallics i couldnt pass up. I would suggest for good all around performance and i great price do the Axxis Deluxe in the front and posi quiets in the rear

It's a beautiful kit, but you wont see much of an improvement unless you're on some sticky R-compound tires.

At the track I use the Yellow stuff brake pads, SS lines, and some RB600 fluid, and from 90mph on RA-1s the ABS still kicks on... =D

Thanks guys, I was considering this kit, but reading what is posted here, I think I will just upgrade to EBC rotors/EBC yellows. (Already have SS lines)

For other trak pad options Hawk offers the Blue compound and Cobalt has a few good compounds. Been happy with my EBC yellows like everyone else though.

Would you like to compare fastest L67 to the fastest Protege? (boom07) Beyond that... I just bought a new Mazdaspeed Protege for $10k, so lay off. Maybe I can give you newbs some knowledge.

Because I have no use for a drag car? Whooping the average ricers is good enough for me. I've never lost a race w/ that monte carlo.

Mustangs, Evo, Honda turds, Acura turds, 350Z, Rx-8 all have eaten the dust.
