Geez. Get over it, people. This is a MAZDA forum. If you're talking about a BMW M3, then write "BMW M3".

Since you're bitching about shortened names, why not run the gambit?

MSP - Michigan State Police
MP3 - computer file format
MP5 - H&K submachine gun

If you can't figure out, either by context or simple deduction, what someone on a Mazda forum is talking about when they say M3, then maybe you should take some classes in basic problem solving.

True, but the thing is, we shouldn't have to figure it out ourselves...it should be clear.

MSP & MP3 & P5: there isn't any other cars that match up to those abbreviations.

but M3? Come on..this is a car enthusiast forum...and so many enthusiasts lust over owning an M3....the car is a Mazda3. If you want to appreviate it, then say Mz3..just so there is NO confusion.

Like someone posted above...if someone posted a thread called 'MSP raced an M3 today' nearly everyone would think it was a BMW M3.

i'll call my car any variation of the names you metioned. who really cares? it's a mazda forum and i'm not sure it really matters what people wanna call their car? maybe i'm wrong, but i just don't understand the problem with it? now if i was on the BMW forum i'd suggest you not call you mazda 3 an M3.

I just got new rims for my MP3.

I took my MP5 to the track.

ehh, who cares perhaps the BMW should be refered to as an M3 and the Mazda 3 as a M3.

The M3 is an actual BMW model. It is a BMW M3.

The M3 is NOT an actual Mazda model. It is a Mazda 3.

You don't call the Protege5 an MP5, the MP3 an MMP3, or the RX-8 an MRX-8 do you? No. Leave the Mazda part out of it. What does that leave you with? MP3, P5, 3, 6, and RX-8.
