Stock Struts

Does anyone know what kind of suspension the Mazda3 has in the front and rear? I know that it is independent and that they have a sway bar in the front and rear but haven't been able to find anything else out about it. The biggest question that I need an answer to is does it have McPherson struts in the rear like it does in the front? I have a 3s sedan by the way, I don't think that it matters but just in case it does.

The rear suspension is a multilink set up and I believe has shocks, not struts. If you look on Mazda's website, I think they talk about the 6's suspension. That should give you a good idea of how it works.

Thanks for the info man. In that case would it be worth spending another $130 bucks to get camber plates for the rear when I order my coilover's? I'm trying to justify getting them and trying to determine if I need them or not.

I am not too sure about the coilovers. I know that some people who have the eibach kit talked about re-adjusting the camber on the rear wheels. They will soon have a kit made for mazda 3's. Check their website, I am not sure if they have any info posted on them.

Thanks for the info Rhagel. I was just informed that K-Sport does not currently have rear camber plates available for the 3 but they are working on them, so I guess the answer to my own question is just to not worry about it and go ahead and by them when they do come out. Thanks for posting though.

No problem

I just found out a couple of days ago that K-Sport will not be making rear camber plates because the suspension setup for the 3 in the rear won't allow for it... at least that's what I was told.

The only way to fix the camber problem in the rear is to install a longer upper control arm.
Mazdaspeed has one but they aren't selling it yet.
Eibach has a part number for a kit but nobody knows what it looks like or when it will be available.

The only option right now is to modify existing components to take out the excessive negative rear camber. Or you could let your tires wear out. I guess that would be another option.

I'm not really wanting to let my tires wear out as that could get just a little bit expensive in the end. I have a friend checking on the Pro-Alignment kit for our cars, hopefully he will have some good news for me.
