stock bpv vs Turboxs Hybrid Bov

wow thats the first time i had actually scene a dyno for just a cold air intake for our cars lol...listen idk if its good or not. im not gonna lie to you. i went went with the aem air intake because of the dry flow filter which allows you to clean it when ever you want with just soap and water. its a little expensive but i have always went with aem in all of my cars.

You guys need a dry lubricant like graphite ... search for jig-a-loo graphite on the web ... green spray can.

I would like to get the cold air intake because i will be getting nice cold air, these cars dont need any help losing power do to heat soak. Im thinking that i will end up getting a cold air intake and sell mine.

well you have your choice of aem & mazdaspeed cai which is the same as aem from what i heard...injen...fujita and your ebay ones. i mean i would imagine that there all the same because of the piping there using. i think all that really matters is the type of filter you get...i really enjoy mine tho and the prefilter is a must if you get one

see i was told graphite will slowly eat away at the metal because of the friction it will product...maybe im wrong

Here's what jig-a-loo says:

"Designed to adhere and endure on components exposed to high heat, Graphite Extreme is ideal for header/exhaust bolts, belt pulleys, shock pistons and clutch and transmission linkages. For use in extreme temperatures ranging from -99-1000 degrees F, Graphite Extreme is ideal for automotive applications wherever friction and heat cause lubrication problems. Also useful in hard-to-reach places where manual lubrication presents problems, it is effective under-the-hood on cable linkages, hood latches and hinges. As an internal lubricant, Graphite Extreme can be used as an extra layer of protection on camshaft surfaces during engine break-in, roller rocker arms, valve tips or brake caliper pistons. In addition to its lubrication and anti-seize properties, Graphite Extreme can be used to treat surfaces to prevent rust formation and freezing."

wow sounds like a great product..problems i was having was in cold weather and having my piston lock up because it wouldnt sound as clear

no i never used graphite. like i said before i was "told" that it could slowly eat away the metal because of friction.

I've had this BoV for around 5-6 months now and to me, the sound is barely noticeable. At what RPM do you guys usually shift at?

i picked up jig-a-loo extreme graphite spray lube and it works very well. no sticking because it goes on and creates a nice smooth surface on the piston. very good product. just makes everything black...including your hands lmao. thanks lbv!!!

You`re welcome Smokey!

That wd-40 ain`t gonna last long Chico ... if your boost starts acting weird remember to re-lube the piston.

hey lbv what are you boost levels with the tmic and stock bpv?...i think im having problems with my turboxs hybrid bov...maybe you can help me..also i dont have a cobb ap so what would be approximate levels of boost?

I should change my signature as I've been running the stock BPV for the winter and the TurboXS gives an annoying bark with the Cobb turbo inlet pipe.

I'd suggest switching back to the stock BPV to see if that resolves your issue.

I'm running 21 psi on a 50/50 meth/H2O mixture though.

see thats what i heard about the cobb turbo inlet...that's why i went with an htp aluminum turbo inlet...the thing sounds so aggressive (with no bark) with the hybrid...i love it...i just feel that i should be holding at a lot higher in 3rd and 4th gear...i mean i hold 15 psi in first and second and i love it...but 3rd and 4th i also hold 14-15 and drops off and from what i hear i should be holding at 17 or 18...and i hate it ...

What makes you say you s/b holding 17-18? I don't see any tuning on your sig like the Cobb AP so I don't think you've got a problem at 14-15 ... from memory, that's what I was at on the stock ECU as well.

You gotta get yourself an AP bud!
