Step bars?

saw a cx7 with side bars the other day... looked completely stupid and useless to me.
personally, I think it would not look good in the cx5 either.

the whole point of these is to help get into a high vehicle. To me, the CX5 is not high enough to need this...
the first time I got into a cx5 i even bumped my head on the top of the door frame...

Also, the way the bottom of the doors cover up the lower part is great for keeping things clean inside the door for winter...(keeps pants clean when getting in and out).
Putting side bars would ruin that.

I agree that looks completely out of place on a CX-5.

These will only dirty your pants during ingress/egress... Not much more than that.

Yes and degrade aerodynamics at highway speeds, after Mazda spent millions on work in wind tunnel.

Some of us really don't care. Just looks cool. No justification and we understand the drawbacks of weight = worsening MPG, shape = worsening aerodynamics, price = less money in our wallets, etc. I was one of those people that had it on the 2002 Rav4 and loved every moment of having them. They were the round OEM ones. The car was lowered and therefore a step was totally not needed and in fact made it more difficult to get out b/c of the need to reach over the step to the floor directly. Oh well. I'm totally okay with it and sorta wish I still had the Rav4.
