I agree that looks completely out of place on a CX-5.saw a cx7 with side bars the other day... looked completely stupid and useless to me.
personally, I think it would not look good in the cx5 either.
the whole point of these is to help get into a high vehicle. To me, the CX5 is not high enough to need this...
the first time I got into a cx5 i even bumped my head on the top of the door frame...
Also, the way the bottom of the doors cover up the lower part is great for keeping things clean inside the door for winter...(keeps pants clean when getting in and out).
Putting side bars would ruin that.
