Steel Brake Lines

from that link...

The improvement is nothing short of amazing. The end result is a much more firm pedal, confidence-inspiring braking distances, and miniscule fade even under hard stop-and-go traffic.

Brake lines...

Brake lines do not prevent brake fade, nor do they really improve braking distances. Fade is caused by the heat on the brake pads and the pads going soft from the heat. And how quickly you stop ultimately relies on the tires you have, but brake pad material can help with this some as well.

All steel braided lines do is stop any swelling that can occur when you mash on the brakes. Rubber lines can expand, steel braided lines tend not to. It allows more of the pressure from the brake pedal to go to the caliper, instead of using some of that pressure to expand the line.

It will feel a little different when you press on the pedal.

If you change your lines you might as well change your fluid. Preferably to Mutol 600 or something in that direction. Fade also accurs from the brake fluid exceeding it's operating temperature under hard driving. How do you stop brake fade? Answer....you can't, at least not with the parts available for our MP3's. If you drive hard enough, you will eventually feel fade. You can battle fade by buying slotted or cross drilled rotors, performance brake pads (EBC Greenstuff), steel braided lines for a firmer, more sensative pedal to help detect the slightest bit of fade, performance brake fluid, and best of all better braking habits. Hehe :)
