Stealth Installs

OK.OK ..... this is my last post for the night. :D

Any of you out there into the stealth install thing? It looks like we've got plenty of blingers out there ;)
but I'm a fan of the full on stealth installation.

Besides, if no one knows it's there then why would they want to pop out your window and snatch you stuff just to cause you a headache and unneccessary stress over a car?

But enough philosiphizing... anyone have some pics to share... and anyone into motorizing things like EQs with servos and such to make them pop out of nowhere? amps under seats? glove box made into PS2 hideaway?

peace,

= fp

p.s.s.
A guy at the PepBoys near me has a pretty dope Ford Focus. I was looking inside and noticed something... The dude fully removed his passenger airbag to install a Nintendo Gamecube. Blam' right there on the top of the dash. It is the most unstealthy thing that I have ever seen. Maybe I can get a pic..... Although cool (but not really for the passenger) I'm definately not looking for stuff like that in this post. (rofl)

I'm aaaaall about the stealth install. My neighborhood's not nice enough to bling. There's not a lot of space left in our cars for stuff! Someone here put their amp in the passenger pocket, that's about invisible.

passenger pocket...? in the door... that's pretty nice..

I know it seems like we're tight on space, but most of the cool stealth stuff I've seen was always based on ingenuity!

Of the cars I looked at the P5 was the tighter on space, but the ride and handling way made up for it :D

hmmm.... where the guys with the door amp install.. This I'd like to see....

.... and a sub install that is nicely tucked into a corner of the wheel well area in the back.... I know this can be done... I'm just not the fiberglass molding expert, and I haven't seen any custom enclosure for the P5 yet.

gotta be able to get to that spare easily!
fold down at least one seat!
and is it to much to ask to be able to pull out the sub and cut of the power if you gotta have the space? (i think not!)

I posted about the sub on another thread. The best idea ever, if your desire is true stealth, is to remove the jack from it's holder in the right well. You then cut the plastic there to fit a mount for a sub. My buddy did it on his P5 and stuck a 10" in there, it bumps as much as I'd ever need, and when you open the trunk, it doesnt scream at you. His amp is screwed to the back of the seat, and is all black. It's also hard to see. very stealth......

I just searched forever, and for the life of me I cant find the thread on the door. Maybe it's closed. Basically what the person did was find an amp that fit (for the most part) inside the pocket. They fabricated a piece of lexan or CF that fit the top of the pocket like a "lid." The amp was a little taller than the pocket, so the lid was rounded up to accomodate it. If you were just looking into the car, it would be completely invisible, and not that hard to do.

i've had this idea for a bit now. on my next car, i'm going to create a case that covers the headunit that has the front part of the factory one.

some thing that i can pop onto the front so it looks like i have a stockunit...

yeah... that looks very nice when done.... great technique to keep your car looking oh so stock ;)

= fp

let me know if.when you give this a go.... I'd be interested in picking up a stock face myself is you come across some, or brokwn radios to remove them from.

well i don't have a protege yet. it all depends on how long the mx holds up etc. :( but you might wanna try ebay or a junk yard near ya to try to pick one up cheap. i think it'd be worth 40 bucks to get a stock radio just to try it out.

Well, I just got my Passenger side airbag removed and had my PS2 Mounted inside where it used be and Got them to motorize the lid thing on the dash so you can access the PS2 and also ran the controllers into the Glove box. Its hot Once I get my Digital Camera back from my friend I'll take pix. Now all I need to do is install my TV ;)

No offense, but why would you want to remove something that could possibly save your passengers life? Just for a PS2. BTW, Is it against federal law to remove SRS from vehicles? The same way it is illegal to remove emissions components. Just curious.

ALOT of ppl are all about the street legal mods... keeping the car stock... doing complete JDM conversions... etc etc...

HOWEVER... id say there are just as many ppl (including myself), who are not all about stealth... are not all about street legal... are not all about stock... they are all about getting as extreme, as creative, as weird, as stylish, and as crazy as they can get! these are the people w/ tvs installed OUTSIDE the car in the bumber/body somewhere. These are people that would spend 5,000 on fiberglass trunk mods/custom boxes. people that would drop a car so low that you can knock an ant on his ass :) (i cant take credit for that quote.. although i feel bad because i cant remember where i heard it). And people who would put concealed twin turbos underneath the floorboards of a van!! (ITS TRUE!! IVE SEEN PICS!!!) And those arent even a small fraction of the extreme, innovative, and ahead of their time mods that people will do. even two years ago, a tv in the car was amazing... now as i mentioned, people have tvs installed in the trunk or even outside the car. hell, people have cameras installed in their rears for parking...

I am mainly a very extreme person when it comes to cars... however, there is ALOT of stock/jdm/stealth/street legal stuff that i REALLY REALLY like... I'm just one of those people, that if your gonna do it.. your gonna go ALL THE WAY untill your happy... and once again, to quote myself: "if you cant tell what im driving without further inspection, then ive done my job"

and once again this is just my opinion!

Peace :D

thanx.. appreciate it...

i always enjoy getting positive feedback from the members on this board... i also ejoy hearing alot of your opinions on alot of different matters... therefore i try to keep my posts as positive as possible and try to get my point off about topics that are important or close to me...

people make fun of me... but for some reason it feels like imports have filled the hole in my life... :D that sounds profound as hell... but its true... imports are quickly turning into.. if not already my biggest passion/hobby

up till now computers were my thing... and as much as i hate the fast and furious (its about as realistic as "Hackers" if youve seen that POS flick), that kid w/ the white jetta (the smart ass one) kinda said it best... something about cars kinda calms me down and takes me into my own little world... not matter whats goin on in my life.. work sux... gf sux... family sux... etc , if i just sit down and start thinkin about these mods and those rides and that NSX i saw the other day... or that MP3 that i saw pics of on the board...

thinking about cars/working on cars/planning for cars just takes me away from my problems

this post turned into more than it was originally supposed to be.. but if youve noticed.. i do that alot.. i start talkin about somethin and it leads into something else <--- SEE!! THAT WAS IT RIGHT THERE!!! :)

Peace

camera installed in the back of the car....

Actually, in Taiwan, its a common thing for ppl to install a camera somewhere in the back of their cars, 'cause they don't trust back up sensor anymore, have to see themselves ;) .

i am planning on getting an amp soon, off the top of my head i was thingking to mount it inside the backing of the 60/40 split read seats. unil i look in there though its still an idea.

i love the idea of stealth though

I've done a few full steath installs in my cars over the years. Nothing in the P5 as it's the wife's and she's perfectly happy with the stock stereo. In my Rodeo I've got an amp for the subs flushed into the rear side panel stoarge comparment with the stock lid over it and even still enough room for stuff to go in there if I need to. The amp is set up for liquid cooling too, if I ever run into overheating problems. The subs as about as hidden as you can get. I made small wood and fiberglass boxes to fit under the front seats and installed a set of 6.5" mid-basses firing straight up in to the bottom of the seat for the feel and impact of the bass without having to take up any storage space or have them firing past my kids just for me to hear them.

In my last car, and MX-6, I had my amps behind the rear seats and in a recessed compartment mounted to the front of the sub box so you could only see them from the inside with the seats folded down, 8" mid-basses in the doors and compression horns molded under the dash and color matched for the front. The sub was a single 10" in a customer dual band-pass box that was mounted under the rear deck with a wall built behind it covered in factory carpet.

Car before that was a '90 Eclipse which had the amps flushed into the rear seats and cover with carpet, two 6.5" mid-basses in each door under a color match custom grill, 4" & 1" in he stock locations on each end of the dash, pair of 3.5" in the center air vents for the center stage, 5.25", 4" & 1" in each rear corner under the stock 6X9 grill, single 10" in place of the spare tire well.

It is a lot of work to actually hide all your components but the look on people faces when they are trying to find everything is classic.
