I painted the emblem, now I want to paint the foglight holders and the silver parts around the lights. I think I can just mask off the folights to paint the rim but does anyone have any ideas for how to pull apart the light fixture without blowing the seal for good?

hmm best bet is to search online for a mazda3 handbook?
no ideas though, good luck to you!
looks good btw

Buy some Night Shades & smoke your sidemarkers. Then buy a smoked front license plate cover & you're set.

To get to your lights, you will have to bake them, but I don't know if I'd want to be the 1st person to try that (especially with projectors) on a 3 & there is no guarantee those rings will even come off.

PAGING the Stealth Mica...
I got my front Mazda Emblem crack and wanted to know If it would look good to paint it black or charcoal gray something like that but need advice.

Thanks

It was really easy...I just popped off the emblem with a screwdriver, sanded it lightly, and used a couple coats of elcheapo automotive spray paint to paint it. In retrospect I would have used a flat black, but the gloss is closer to the grill color and I got used to it in a day or so. I am getting a few chips on it so I will probably have to touch it up once a year or so. Just be careful when you pop the tabs on the emblem, I cracked one of them from too much pressure on it. Does anyone know if we can get spraycans of Mazda paint?

thanks skibike,
probably I'll paint it charcoal gray or something like that.

Taking apart the headlight

Yeah I would be weiry of putting your headlight in the over, but you could use a heat gun on low heat. I put angel eyes in mine, but I used a hair dryer and that was a b****, but it can be done. The silver peaces will have to be painted though, you cannot remove them.

Good luck,

Painted mine...(56K Beware)

Skibike, thanks for that idea. At first I thought that it would look "ok" but when I painted mine I LOVED it. Here's the outcome.

Just WONDERING: How would it look on another color MZD3?

you could always take off the emblem take it to the dealer and have them paint it with mazda paint. I would ask to have them wait till they paint somthing else the same color cause they probably wouldn't want to paint one small part, of course this would cost some $

hehehe, it's a black mica thing ;)

I got a few front plastic grille badges (unpainted and non chromed) off ebay for like $4 each. A little primer and a coat of black (mines black mica too) and blammo. No chrome peeking through if it gets chipped. Actually, it's much less likely to get chipped having no chrome on it to start with.

I haven't put mine on yet, but i started with flat black. If i change to my mind and go gloss, all i gotta do is throw on a clear coat :)

Well i went to take a look at the chips and there are no more than on the stinkin' hood....Gotta get that clear bra. I think with the emblem black it makes even more people wonder what kind of car it is. I saw a post of the painted emblem on other color cars, but it stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe other posters can change my mind? Pix?

Dont Mean To Threadjack....but

Sorry guys, but a while ago 1 of you stealth black micas had the taillights smoked out and were gonna smoke the headlights too....wanted to know if I could get some info on the tails, and what ever happened on the headlights....

I have a Black Mica as well.....just got eyebrows installed and I'm thinking w/ smoked heads/tails it'll be sweet!

I like it! Instead of standing out, it looks more like....like....rubber or something?(hard to explain) I might have to repaint mine this spring. Now how do we do the back? Does the emblem pop off, or is there a nut or fixture on the inside of the door?
