Starting My First Mazda Build

I do feel a little more power now that I got my old exhaust off. It was very restrictive and when I shook the old muffler it sounded like a tin can with the internals rattling around in it.

The "internals" rattling around might have been parts of the catalytic converter substrate. That's not too uncommon for older cars. I'm going to assume that your setup isn't much different that muff's or mine. If that's the case and it is louder, you might have a cat.

yea I thought that could be pieces of my cat so I went ahead and replaced it also.

I finally went out and got some sheet metal to build a heat shield (thanks to Lowe's $2.00 a sheet). I know its not the best looking one out there but it does what its supposed to do so I'm happy. I'm getting great gas mileage now. So here are some pic's, tell me what you think?

Lookin' good bro, though you may want to take a file to the bottom edge, it looks mildly serrated in the pic.

wrap the outer surface of that in reflective (heat) tape and you'll be golden!

yea, I've still got a little bit of work to do on it but for now it works. That dremel should finnish the job off.

Yeah, it should. The metal box will eventually "soak through" with heat and you'll be back where you started, the reflective tape will redirect the heat back into the engine bay away from the intake

anyway I got a little bit board one day and decided to paint a little bit more of my interior so I moved on to my door panels(I also had to redo them after I bought the car cause the old ones got wet and turned to mildew). but if anyone knows a cheap place I can find the factory door pulls please send me a message. I need something there to close the doors cause I'm getting tired of pulling on the handle to close the door. I also am experimenting with the dupli-color temporary paint. I'm using It to do the numbers on my car for the points 7 event so I'll see how it holds up. anyway here are some pictures.

I'm going to put this as nicely as I can:

Please, PLEASE, step away from the dupont. I guess I've never been a fan of the really REALLY loud accent paint.

im gonna say paint on and do what you want. because you must get all this stuff out of your system. Rather you decide in the future if you like it or your gonna wish you never did it in the first place, and wont do it again.

BUT, the blue does clash with the suede door panel...
