starting issues with walboro 255 fuel pump

Okay so I've tried 2 brand new walboro 255 pumps and have ran into the same issue:

The car takes 5-8 turn overs before it starts.

I think it is flooding with too much gas, causing the motor/ecu to have to burn the fuel before it can start.

The other idea (which I thought it was at first) was I thought it was not getting ENOUGH fuel being as when you turn our cars into the "ACC/ON" position the fuel pump does not turn on. Essentially it only turns on when you begin cranking.

I am going to attempt to replace the fuel filter with an actual stock one (instead of the autozone version) in case the larger filter that they gave me is causing more fuel to be absorbed/picked up.

Anyway, has anyone else came across this issue with the walboro?

I have a walbro and when you put the car in the "on" position you should hear it for about a couple seconds then shut off then start working when you turn the car on. and with a bigger fuel filter it changes your fuel pressure

same here never had a problem with the walbro and yes ^^^ like member on top said you can hear the pump turn on when you turn the key in before turning on the car.

check the plugs and wires. look for any signs of fouling or poor burn characteristics. Make sure the pump is wired properly and make sure your injectors aren't leaky. does the starting issue change if the car is warmed up to temp or cold? cold start adds fuel to the mix and if you have other mods to the injectors it may just be too much fuel.

I'm having the exact same issues. I had my fuel pump replaced with a Walbro255lph and I don't hear a thing when I turn the key to the "ACC ON" position. It also takes 5-9 seconds to start, and when it eventually catches, it's weak at first. I lost a lot of low end power after installation as well.

I think it's not getting enough fuel. My current theory is that perhaps the 2 fuel lines that connect to the fuel pump assembly were mistakenly switched and connected to the wrong outlets.

Do you really think a differently sized filter on the end of the pump may have negatively affected fuel pressure?

Hey Michelle, when you get a chance please let me know if you identified the problem.
This issue is really killing me and I could use your help.

Hi
I had a simular problem when i first installed my Walbro. The problem was that the pump was leaking at connection in the tank at the braket.. Check to ensure its properly sealed, and not leaking back into the tank.
And yes, when connected properly you should hear the pump cycle for a little once then ignition is turned on before you start.
