started my perrin fmic install

I made a spacer out of washers to move it to a nut that was available...once I get to my home computer I can post that pic too.

ok so to share my install experience with you all im not sure if i got a bad kit or what but neither boost tubes fit properly. one wasnt angled right the other was 2 inches too long. WARNING to any potential buyers of this intercooler: yes it is designed for the mazdaspeed protege but is in no way a bolt on application. if you want to know why, pm me and ill give you a detailed story of how annoying the powersteering cooler and ac condensor are. for being the most expensive fmic on the market for the msp you would expect a lot better quality, and more of a direct fit. sorry for the long post, just sharing my views.

Ok so I got mad and cut the pipe I know I know you guys said not too but I need my car. It fits very snug there is no way it is going anywhere. I just started it and runs great so far but well see when I get on the road.
here are some pics.

Mine is sitting here waiting to go on. This thing is massive compared to my begi. I'm just waiting on my mam manifold and i'll install everything in one day.

Now get some guts and hack off that bov recirc tube on the injen...hehehe

well I took it for a ride today. Drove all over town I babied it for most of the drive until the highway and damn it feels nice didn't idle funky at all. It died once when I got home to pull in the driveway which was weird but that was about it. thanks to everyone for all the help I appreciate it.

the perrin fmic install was the worst experience i ever had with putting an aftermarket part on my car.end.
however paid off in the end when i have the fmic bling and all of the compliments and srt's blowing off to me when they see me at the opposite end of the light.end.

Hehehe, yeah even though it might not do any better than other intercoolers, the bling factor is incredible...

Also, remember that you are venting to the atmosphere, so when you load the car to get into the driveway and let go, it will stall, youll get it right!

what do u mean the perrin intercooler might not do better then other intercoolers? j/w cause i just bought one and its on its way..... is there other better ones out there besides perrin? sweet ride pirana...i love that clean look (thumb)

No, in my opinion I think the Perrin is an excellent choice but the core is wayy too big. The thing I like about it is there aren't that many bends in the piping, if they made it with a smaller core which didn't require replacement of the support beam I would get it. There are two more FMIC coming out soon.

i've heard that the perrin isn't very efficient, again, i just heard it from a reliable source, but dont have it and don't intend to buy it, so don't take my comment to the heart

well i guess i dont mind having a perrin intercooler then..because i got mine off ebay from one of the MSP owner...he said it was used for 3 months...it still looks new...he also threw in a injen intake and a hks BOV...for $850 shipped...so i hope i got a good deal..just waiting for it to arrive...

ok just to give an update on my situation i have been talking back and forth with cullen and jeff at perrin and theyve been great about this fitment issue. it seems the endtanks on the intercooler werent cut right. so jeff said to cut the boost tubes to fit and measure how much was cut and he'd send resized tubes at no extra cost. very agonizing experience putting the intercooler on but im quite happy with it so far. only complaint is that its a little tempermental at low rpms and i think im hitting fuel cut around redline. at wot somewhere around or over 6k rpm's the car just kicks back on me, any input on this would be nice. but yea the power gains and torque are quite nice. im much closer to my friends stock srt4 now haha. mz zoom if you need any help/tips on the install just lemmi know. msp03.5 you might want to see if you can get the same deal i got with perrin.

Glad they got your back....now that you got them, ask Jeff how much for the pipe with an HKS flange welded in it, for a buddy of yours, ;)

you could get a local weld shop to do it, just gotta make sure they can do tig welding. but next time i talk to jeff ill ask just for you, im assuming on the cold pipe?
