standback tuning?

Ok so i have the SB with PNP. I went out to do some pulls today and im having some issues. For some reason, I cannot change boost. If I try to lower or raise the boost, Im still getting a bit over 15 psi. Sometimes its like I hit fuel cut too because it falls on its face. Im beginning to think that there is a problem with the SB. Not only can I not change boost but sometimes I still hit fuel cut. At other times, it pulls just fine. At the end we were getting some good hard pulls but every now and then, we were still hitting fuel cut. Any thoughts, questions, or ideas will help.

mods: CPE PNP SB, CS FMIC w/ intake, Forge BPV, CS catless DP, midpipe, and CBE. DH is on its way and monitoring AFRs via AEM UEGO wideband.

Does anyone have any maps that I might download or take a look at? Im in anchorage and make it known that pump gas here is only 90 octane for premium. I cannot buy anything higher unless I mix my own or buy race gas.

Thanks,
Ryan

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong with your standback. However, you might need to send your ecu in to them for the their flashes (one of them is flash that fixes fuel cut). This isn't a bad thing b/c their flashes are amazing.

OP post screen shots of your tune. Show the config pages, I have a feeling something is off in there. Maf/timing/map/meth/fuel pressure tables should all be zero'd out at this point so be sure they are

well, right now they arent. We were out tuning and now everything is different. Im going to set everything back to zero and start fresh. Is there anyone that I can contact to get maps from?

I wouldnt get maps from other people. each car acts differently. How are you datalogging your pulls if you dont have a DH yet? I see you have a wideband 02 to read afr but you need to be reading alot more than that to start tuning....Are you using the blackbox software with the SB? Here's what I think you should do- wait until you have the DH and a mechanical boost gauge. Datalog runs and watch afr(since you can see it on a datalog its easier to sit and tune specific points than watching your aem uego as you drive), fuel pressure, knock retard, and boosted temp(to help explain any random knock events) Dial in your boost using the mechaincal gauge and calibrate your maf first, then adjust your timing where the DH is reading knock (if any), and lastly dial in your afr's to whatever you want. I personally tuned for 11.9-12.4 without meth.

I dont have a standback so I have no idea how they work, but looking at your mods, which is almost fully bolted, maybe your fuel pump is starting to crap out? Just a thought. Are you monitoring fuel pressure>?

yes, monitoring fuel pressure and its fine. Even though I bought new in mid 08, there is only 8500 miles on the car so if the fuel pump is already going out then there is a serious problem.

The dashhawk should be here this week. Im going to order the boost gauge as soon as I can find the upper vent pod for it. I have the regular vent pod for the UEGO. If anyone has recommendations for that too then please, Im all ears.

Once I get the DH and do some light pulls with it, Ill slowly get more and more aggressive. Im about to be out of town for ten days so i might send off the ECU to have the full control flash done as well as the fuel cut flash. Should be very benefitial. I should not have tried tuning without a solid manner of logging. I know better than that but im so anxious to get it done before I go out of town that I keep rushing things. I need to slow it down before I start breaking things.

Dude, you've got alot to learn. First of all, if you dont have the DH yet how are you monitoring fuel pressure? second, you gotta understand that fuel pressure doesnt mean s***, all it means is that your pump is working or failed. Upgraded units flow more VOLUME, which is what you need when you mod this car and dont want it to cut above 16psi. get some b4 you go further buddy.

yeah man, take proper datalogs and see what the car is doing b4 you tune it. Your on the path to failure if you rush s*** and tune without logging the car. Do 4th gear pulls from 3k to redline and then tune starting at redline working your way back down towards 3k.

dashhawk is in and monitoring. Boost control issues and no more. And from what I can see, Im not registering any knock. AFRs could be better. Its running a bit leaner than I would like but nothing that could be fatal. Im having some software issues right now with the dashhawk. I think its more laptop issues but I should have some logs posted soon. Thanks for all input and the warnings from some of you. Im lucky that I didnt hurt anything trying to tune without logging. Thats what happens when you rush s***.
