Staggered Fitment

Hey Everyone

I'm still really excited that I managed to get a crazy wheel & tire setup to fit on the 6 that I have to post it up again in case you didn't see it.

Front 275/35-19 on 19x9.5 +40
Rear 245/35-19 on 19x8.5 +43

These wheels came from a friend who owns an IS350. They are not the right overall diameter for the 6, so the speedo would be way off. If I were to buy them I would buy 275/30-19's up front, and 235/35-19 in the rear, as well as I would have a higher offset in the rear, it does fit but there is at least 3/4" of an inch to move inward. (Yes I know the tires are rotating in the wrong direction)

Here are the pics:

Good luck with that. I would buy the correct size if I were you. Wheels and tires are expensive enough without buying the wrong size...

Staggered should be bigger on the rear, not on the front

Front 275/35-19 on 19x9.5 +40= the front tires gonna be 22 millimeter higher than the rear
Rear 245/35-19 on 19x8.5 +43

Size is to wide and offset is not good

Hit a good hole and your fender's gonna get hurt and the tire too

The best you could do is 225/35/19 on 4 corner put the 8.5 on the front and 9.5 on the back, but the 225 is gonna be stretch like hell

I know the tire size is wrong in overall diameter but it does fit. I didn't buy these wheels it was only a test fit. Since tire shops won't test fit anything for you I had to make due with the resources I had available to me.

(cool)

Yeah..I was wondering why the wider wheel is in front...I know front wheel drive and all, but the staggered fitment, IN MOST CASES, is to help correct understeer and make the car more neutral...that works EVEN IF said car is FWD. My much renowned $.02.

Pontiac Grand Prix GXP/GTP with the V8 came wits staggered tires and the fronts were larger than the rears... Wider front tires allowed the car to hook up the power that was going to the front wheels.....

It's the GXP, and...yeah, I knew that...how is it that a GM product always comes into play when someone wants to present the "exception" to a rule....I did say "IN MOST CASES".

Now, based on your interjection, take into consideration that,
1) the GXP is a vehicle that is about a 1000lbs heavier than the 6
2) it's heavier mostly because of a V8 *the primary reason for them to stagger the wheels*
3)the GXP is not as well balanced or well mannered as the 6 is naturally
4)the GXP also has far more understeer naturally than the 6 which has a tendency to be more neutral in its understeer
5)finally, the GXP still only had a 255 in the front...I think the 275 (even if you're tryin to create oversteer and break the rear wheels) would be a bit of overkill
For the GXP to be brought up as an example, it's kinda an apples to oranges comparison. As far as handling, the ONLY thing these two cars have in common are that they're front drive. Take a look here... http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtests/9964/pontiac-grand-prix-gxp.html

Again..the great $.02 that I like to toss in there!

yet the reason given by GM for the staggered fittament was to be able to put the HP of the V8 down effectively...

I'm sorry but I think that looks terrible. Suggest you get thinner wheels or wider tires. Don't mean to offend but just my $.02

That doesn't look good at all. You should never stress a tire like that. It looks like a 300 lbs Man trying to wear a speedo. I understand the larger tire up front, but if your not racing your 6. Why do it? I say stay close to stock sizes and adjust using proper tire sizes.
