well, got my car painted last saturday, and fit everything sunday evening.

here is the pics of the process...

me and my mates start sanding everything around 12 at noon... then we start masking 4pm, take 2 hours break for beer, ciggies, talk sh*t, and arguments of how to do this that  start painting around 6.30... then finish everything around 9.30pm... i ended up paying him AUD$250 for the job...

painted RED: Front lip, Rear roof spoiler, Carbon bonnet (1/2), Interior plastic strip, engine cover (i know this is the 4th red i sprayed on it :P).
painted CARBON GREY: Grill, small grill bit on the bumper

and here are the before/after pic and other the raw pics of it when its finish... i took it this morning @ my workplace carpark... bit grainy since i use my crappy camera, thx to photoshop i can fix up the colour  i'll take the a proper pictures later with my other camera (proper one... promise)...

What kind of paint did you use???

I think you might have made a Mazda 3 hatchback beautiful, but the jury (in my brain) is still out. If you have, you have done the impossible.

oh come on now man, they are not that bad... damn protege drivers just jealous is all.... hehehe

They are generic (cheap) wheels sold on wheelmax.com under the brand name "exel".

EDIT: oh and yes.. I came to my decision. Your car looks awesome! Great work!

I got my Protege5 soon after the Mazda 3 came about.. I knew I had to snatch one up before they were all gone. I don't know what it is.. I think I just like that the Protege5 looks more "trim", as if the Mazda3 has put on a few pound or something. Everything is just rounded too much for me. The 3 sedan does it for me though, it looks great. It might just be the different hood/grille that I don't like, but the way he custom painted it looks nice.

Looks awsome! Flameboy, you going to the state meet in Melborne?

i was just lookin at the pics and i noticed two things, first your drivers side (passanger to you) fog light isnt there. Then i noticed the AEM CAI and realized you were improving airflow. BUT then i noticed your throttle body is mechanical??? You have the 2.3L right? what other differences are there, cuz our cars are all electric when it come to the petrol pedal.

How do you like the electronic throttle? I hated it on my mom's 03 Altima 2.5SSL, I found it to be very touchy. I had a very hard time modulating between light-on-the-throttle positions. Strangely, it is a completely different world on her 05 Altima 3.5SE, maybe due to the welcome increase in power. I am never reminded that it has an electronic throttle until I engage the cruise control and the pedal doesn't move.

EDIT: your car looks great BTW, lovin the color.
