Correct. The AFC controls exactly what it says.. air/fuel controller. The unit that does the timing as well is called the FTC.. fuel/timing controller.

alright, so how hard is it to hookup i mean cuz it looks like alot of wires? is it easier than it looks?

It's only 7 wires, so if you know anything about wiring then it will be a piece of cake. However, if you can't solder then don't even attempt it. Pay someone who can solder to do it for you so that it gets done properly.

Can or cant? It's crucial that you solder the connections, butt connectors won't cut it when it comes to splicing into the ECU harness.

yeah my brother inlaw is a professional solderer you might say lol. and im not to shabby myself.

so you just hook it up and it will be pretty much plug and play? or am i going to have to hoomk it up to my laptop and make adjustments? or what i am trying to ask is once i hook it up and stat the car will it automaticaly make the adjustments to fix the fuel cut problem? or how do i go about fixing that?

u have to tune it. i think there are certain maps u can download but i would just take it to a tuner i think u can have it tuned for 200-300 bucks and the car will run like a champ.

Do not pay anyone ANY money to tune using the SS AFC!! That is one of the key advantages to the AFC over the Unichip.. you can tune it yourself without having to ship the unit or pay anyone for the service.

There is a sticky in this section of the forum. Just go back a page and read the AFC sticky. All of it.

take into consideration that maybe he isnt very good with computers nor tuning a car. better safe than sorry. fuel is not something u want to **** up in performance applications.

just because you can do it doesnt mean you should. i.e. if i was in DFW id definitely pay sam to tune my car, and id try to learn something about the process. then as i kept modding maybe id do some myself, but if i got a chance to work with someone who was knowledgable about the car i would take it. if i didnt feel comfortable with what i was doing, id still use a local tuner rather than put a rod through my block.

that is correct. in fact, youre right in sams neck of the woods (i think). you should look him up.

Fair enough, but I can honestly say that the AFC is beyond easy to tune if you do just a little bit of homework. Read the sticky and go to Split Second's website and read their tuning FAQ. It tells you everything you need to know.
