SS FTC + STi 550s = AMAZING!!!

So i just got done hooking up the SS FTC that ken sentme from PG.

I mated it up with a set of STi Pinks
(550CC).

Did the wiring, hooked it up, loaded up a 440 cc map that i found on the forums, and on the road i went. The car idles nice (a bit rich sometimes) but other than that the car runs so good. It is a little rich getting into boost (pegs 10s around 1-2 psi) but after that at WOT this beast just lets loose.

Specs on my current set up:
SS FTC V3
STI 550 cc injectors
GT3037s turbo .64 AR
Thumper Kit
SS AIC set up (1x760cc)
8.5:1 arias
pauter rods
626 intake mani

etc etc

Let me tell you -- this b**** SCOOTS now!

My prior set up was stock msp ecu w/ an additional injector.
NOW, there is no comparison as to power.

I am really thinking that with this new setup at 15 psi it felt as if it was close to 330-340 whp.

I will try to get it dynoed soon.

Anyways, just wanted to praise Ken and his FTC.

It is really the s***.

Good to know I have a set of Sti Pinks sitting on my shelf waiting to be put in....well waiting for a few other things as well....none the less something fun to look forward too.

awesome work bryan, very glad to hear this. i'll be asking for a copy of that 550 map myself very soon :D

working on the idle right now sitting in my car.
the afr's up top with the 550s and the 440 map are deep 10s. i just modifiedit a bit and am going on on run. ill keep everyone posted.

holy s***.... how long have you been back Bryan? Sounds like the car is treating you right.

haha, ive been lurking;-)

last week of law school finals = me working on the car getting ready for summer haha ;-)

anywho, just got out and tuned her up.... 11.5-11.8 up top and she feels even faster now.. definitely right around 330 whp i would guess -- maybe a smidge less...

still have to iron out a few things, but all is on the up and up!!

HEY, quick Q.

when i open up the map, and change values and then write it to the ecu, how do i save that file to my hard drive? i looked but i couldnt see....

anyways, i guess i can always just pull the map off the FTC itself and then tune it, but i was just wondering how to save a tuned map off the ftc to your hard drive?

Whenever I modify my map, I open it, make changes, then write it to the ecu. That way I always have a copy as opposed to reading data from the ecu, making changes and then writing it back. Any chance you could post your timing map? Kind of curious as to what it looks like. I've been running a V1 since 04' and it works great.

I actually havent touched the timing map as of yet. Im not sure where exactly the car needs timing retarded, as have an open wastegate and no knock sensor (nor an egt).

I believe that i should get my hands on a knock sensor just to be safe...

ps. just went to look at my old haltech map that Juan gave me to run on my old setup. I was looking where he was pulling timing, and guess what -- he never did. He actually ADDED timing EVERYWHERE throughout the load range. I believe around 14 psi 5000 rpms, he was adding 27-29* of timing.

So, i mean i am going to leave it alone for right now but i would like anyones input on how they think timing should be tuned.

Just to let you guys know..As far as the pinks..They are great Drop in replacement Injectors...But an even better option is the USDM 07+ WRX njectrs which outflow the STI's Pinks and are a tad cheaper.

Just another option for you guys out there.
I can post part #'s for both if you guys like.

Funny..I did my own research because of the availability of the pinks..or lack of.
Here are the OEM numbers..and most US dealers can't order the pinks..but can order the USDM injectors.

JDM STi "Pinks" -
Subaru WRX STi JDM "Pink" Injectors 565cc 16611AA510

USDM INjectors -
Subaru WRX 2006 565cc Injectors USDM 16611AA720

that seems like alot of timing to be adding for that amount of boost on such a large turbo. how were your EGTs?

Good stuff! Sounds to good to be true actually. So with the new build in Map sensor instead of modifying via the MAF....your telling me the ecu won't relearned around things?

we do not have problems with the split seconds being learned around in either AFC or FTC trim

sounds like you are having a blast. ive heard of people modding the pinks for even more flow, im sure that could be an option if you ever start running out of fuel, but with your additional injector on top of the pinks its hard to see you needing more then what you already got :)

sounds like a sweet ass build, hit a dyno and post #s!

will do after i get my axle changed....

I think my cv joint doesnt like me....

Anyways, about the timing, i started doing the rule of thumb timing adjustment (about .75 degrees of timing for every pound of boost).

this seems to be ok, however it is very difficult to detect ping in my car since i am running an external wastegate.

Anyways, I will keep you all posted!!

get a j&s and call it a day =) thats what im going to be running just have to install it along side the mpi. that way i can agressively tune and still be safe
