SS FTC + STi 550s = AMAZING!!!

get a j&s and call it a day =) thats what im going to be running just have to install it along side the mpi. that way i can agressively tune and still be safe

is the J&S coming out with a new unit, or whats the deal? I havent really been able to sift through all the junk. Where can i get one that will be current and work on my set up as it is?

-thanks!

post up a wtb. and yes they are comming out with a new unit. th eonly way to get one as of now tho is to get it used or get lucky and find one like i did brand new w/ gauge

The new J&S units I read somewhere are only going to be 4channel and you will only be using 2channels so they will be much more expensive!

No I have the protege one and it is a 2 channel. You only tap into 2 coil wires that knows when its firing on the down or up cycle.

This cant be right can it?

ps. just went to look at my old haltech map that Juan gave me to run on my old setup. I was looking where he was pulling timing, and guess what -- he never did. He actually ADDED timing EVERYWHERE throughout the load range. I believe around 14 psi 5000 rpms, he was adding 27-29* of timing.

So, i mean i am going to leave it alone for right now but i would like anyones input on how they think timing should be tuned.

also, i dont know how the haltech map is set up; like if the input values on the timing map are degrees "above" stock timing, or just total degrees of timing period.

Now that i think of it, it probably is "total" degrees of timing. thus around that boost range i had 27-29 degrees of TOTAL timing, not 27 degress ABOVE stock.

Okay I was going to say that I am pulling 1degree/psi starting at 9psi so by 14psi I'm pulling 6deg + 2degrees additional midrange between 3500-4500rpms really not based on anything since I haven't had knock on the new motor. Especially with my little baby turbo compared to your monster! I'm sure this will all change some when I'm upped to 20psi.

so can you run the ssftc by itself or do you have to have the afc first? It comes with maps already right, you just need a labtop?
And I guess you or somebody has maps for the upgraded injectors now anyway?
Only thing thats stopping me is a check engine light for too much fuel.... you guys think I could clear that code and install the ssftc because I don't know whats causing the code I've tried replacing parts no success yet.

I may just go this route and say screw haltech so I don't have to drive so far to get tuned. I would just be able to use any labtop or go to a closer shop and use their labtop. Pretty easy to tune and olad maps it seems???

this is probably more accurate

the fuel and timing controller is its own unit. the AFC is not needed to run it.

So if I bought one, is the map already on it? And when you buy it would you be able to pick from a group of maps or 1 map that I want, thats closest to my mods or ?
