first of all I think this whole comparison is stupid and just to let you know mt lancers "hp per cylindar (dumbest measurement ever) is 67.75 accordin to you calculations  :p

look flamer (take it how you will), i really don't care what you think. and the number was for my reference for comparing the 2 engines. if you have nothing to contribute to and help this already fckd up thread, then ur just another one of these penis envy fools that HAVE to bash on everything else just to make them feel like they have the best car on the planet.

Hey guys, I have a few posts on this forum becuase I like the MSP, might buy one, and am interested in what the owners think. I happen to own a 01 Chrysler Neon R/T and it has been rock solid and dependable since day 1. (It was even the demo model with 3k km's)
I have never gone out and hated on the MSP and tried to conduct myself with some dignity and class. Most of you are pretty cool and laid back but I can't believe the Neon=POS stuff and general misinfo that some are going on about. I haven't decided if I want to go with the SRT4 yet becuase I want a few creature comforts and wouldn't mind getting them at the time of sale. I would love the HP of the SRT4 but don't know how much I want it yet.
Whatever I decide I will be happy with my choice, knowing that there might be another car that holds .03g better or accelerates .5 quicker, and when I run into that car I will give him a thumbs up and check out his ride and how he likes it.

uh Mazda speed pro with sub 170 hp to the wheels vs srt-4 217 Hp and 247 TQ TO the wheels?!?!? The MS pro doesn't even come close performance wise... don't make stuff up it makes you look doofy

why are u flamin me...i was just giving my opinion. yeah the srt-4 beats the msp hands down hp/torque-wise....but i think there's other factors besides just hp/torque. I'm not dissing the srt-4...I think its a cool car....

But good job sounding like a complete ******* tool :wtf:

I wanna see how long they actually last when racers and modders take them out to the track every weekend.

About the same as someone crazy enuff to take a stock protege max it out to 170hp er wait.....

damn, this is just too sorry. soo many haters. lay off the freakin haterade. pdhaudio or some other Mod, pls out of mercy for my now suffering thread, please end this and take it out. it was ok for the first few posts and i even posted my view on why i didn't buy an SRT and why i chose the MSP, but now this is just taking it too far. nvr again will i mention SRT (or any other car for that matter) compared to the MSP, just too much penis envy here. this makes me sad.

I dont know if this has been mentioned, plus I dont know if anyone here is wavering on the fence for their next car purchase, but in the new Automobile magazine they do a SCC like $20K Pocket Rocket Shootout.

the protoge is a very small car for the price with a turbo it only does low 15s comparing to the SRT-4's numbers and price

the styling isn't really there for the protoge as well. they try to offer a MP3 player and say they have an upgraded stereo system which i laughed about
returning to the Mazdaspeed Protege discussion, I know someone asked about simply "upping" the boost on it's T25 Turbocharger. The fact is, it's running 6.9 PSI, and is simply a standard 130 hp Protege engine with a turbo shoved in. Nothing done to the internals, etc. That's why it's running so low. Mazda had the MS/P up to over 200+ hp, but they realized it was not operating safely so Ford dropped the boost.

So if you're comparing the to, it'll be alot less expensive to increase the suspension/chassis on the SRT-4, than to upgrade the engine on the MS/P. And even with that, the stock suspension won't hold much more.
If your really into 1/4 mile racing...your best best is to go with the Neon, if your into handling and BMW style control and driving, the SVT Focus has that area owned, if your into both, you may wanna look into the WRX (excellent aftermarket), but you'll pay a little bit more. I would say either buy the neon, and put money into the suspension, or buy the SVT Focus and buy the Jackson Racing blower, which should put you at 235hp at the crank allowing you to compete

gentlemen, let's broden our minds.

This will all be resolved at a race track or AutoX near you soon. Let's just wait and see.

If you want to see what the big boys do, Wait for SCCA Solo Natz or the SCCA Runoffs (road racing). Or wait to see which car Hoosier comes out with a 'special' tire for.

I've still got that 'hundie for the bet about which car is running after it's paid off. (unless it was a factory freebe.)

Also heard from an SCCA race-prep team today that they can't get the Neon to live for more than 45 minutes on the track, and he was talking about 'stock' cars.

not that I've owned both or anything.

PS: we are still talking about entry level cars, not sports cars.

The Penis Envy comment was right on the mark.

Smolten, you just don't get it do you. Magazines write articles that please their advertisers. Who do you think spends more money with Automobile, Daimler or Ford - Mazda. Well duh the Mercedes ads alone probably win out.

Why don't you just buy a car, show up at whatever type of event you like and prove you are right. Then do it again and again and again for a few years running.

No legit sanctioning body puts the mini cooper in the same class as a MSP or the Neon, it's in a slower class. The Focus get's it ass whooped by the MSP in both AutoX and on Road Courses.

And if you don't want to follow a sanctioning bodies rules I'll show up and kick some butt in the MSP or a 30-year-old 911 that cost $10k.

Stand and Deliver.

now back to our regularly scheduled harmony.

freakin smolton, what if i like the msp? can you rate that? what if in my mind it came out on top? what if i like how it drives, and all the mods that come with it? i understand that you absolutly love the SRT-4. SO WHY ARE YOU HERE??? you know there are haters here! i just wanted to talk about forged internals. aftermarket vs. the ones in the SRT-4, can't we have a civilized conversation concerning the SRT-4 engine. damn i wasn't even talking about the car, just the engine. any thread with SRT-4 in the title attracts haters like moths to the light.

I remember somebody posted that before about the Automobile magazine and when i went to the neon forum.. a lot of ppl cant believe how ppl rated the msp last also..... so hey its all personal reference... u cant just say a car is bad just coz the magazine said so... ppl shouldnt dis on the SRT-4 also... but this is a mazdaspeed forum so why would someone wanna dis on their own car and praise on other cars?

i have customers with neons for few years now.
now in my opinion (not to upest anyone) (cough , cough)

the neon is not structurally sound IN comparison to the MSP
but again this is not what the thread is about. granted
the stock internals in the srt-4 are better than msp, focus.
if my memory serves me right the cooper motor is basically the same as the dodge
same block and head I THINK!
anyway im not knocking the power output of the engine
but, my personal preference and opinion is that it would have been better suited in a stratus than the neon
also if my memory serves me correct , one more downfall to the neon is no LSD
please correct me if im wrong

ebsalem nice choice of words!

Hmm i geuss im a flamer:rolleyes:
Maybe because HP/Cylinder is the dumbest way of comparing engines EVER.
IMO even HP per Liter is gay, it means absolutely nothing.
YEa I geuss I am bashing on all those fools (because of my penis envy:rolleyes: ) who own an MSP....on no wait, I OWN an MSP.
I've modded my car and taken it to the track, and done things for toher people on this board, so why dont you think what about what your going to say next time...then dont say it.

They won't in the same class but I am sure we could compare times. Who cares what tire Hoosier comes out with a special tire for?!
That hundie comment is garbage IMO as well, you don't have anything to back it up.
So how is it that last year at the runoffs a Neon ACR had no problem owning 2nd place even being caught up in a first lap traffic jam. I guess they could get it to tun just fine?!

Turdy

Buster...Are you the owner of the Magic turd...A pilot de-fecal...
An over-endowed excretory 4 wheeler...A refugee from the Automotive design community's butt crack?
Yes you know the Turd of which I speak the Peon Sfart-4.

Dont hate the MSP because it's beautifull...just realize that turds need love to and go polish your SRT-4.
You know, the SRT-4 is like a clumsy fat chic with strong legs.
heheheheheheh(laugh) (laugh)
