SRT is here!!!!

Having worked for car auctions before and being an enthusiust I have driven enough cars to know where the value is, and quality. I also have learned to keep an open mind and seen different companies vastly improve over the last 10-15 yrs.
My 01 R/T is rock solid as I am coming up on 2yrs of ownership. It is a great car all around and is solid and rattle free. I had a 95 Neon for 2 yrs (95-97) and I can say the 2nd gen is a totally different car. Just for fun, test drive a R/T, just to see what they are about.

That motor is far from slapped together, but I can understand if you take that standpoint, your opinion.

Ok, here is the link to the guy who has his SR-T in Florida. Pay close attention to the window sticker and where everything is assymbled, and the interior:

This explains the price.

I've driven past "The Home of the Neon" (Belvidere, IL) many a time.

So many fsking ugly neons that you can see from the highway that need to be burned. :D

the interior reminds me of typical domestic interiors...i dunno y..

As far as build quality, I don't car what brand of car we're talking about, a car built in Japan has better fit and finish than a car built in the U.S. If you ever compared a Protege to a 626 or an MPV to a Tribute you would see what I'm talking about.

Jason, I agree

And buster, I'll say it again.

I have driven the Neon's, everything from the 1st ones to the newest including the RT's.....there's one parked in my driveway as I type ( not mine of course)....sorry, but I just don't like them for the lack of quality.

I was just out for a bit and stopped by a local newstand, browsed the new World of Wheels car guide. Commented on the improved neon quality and the "exceptional" PT quality....:) Of course the P5 got a great review too. No worries Newf, whose car isit anyway and what year of R/T?

Hey...I thought this was a Mazdaspeed forum, go elsewhere and start a "Dodge" forum, we love our MSP's and nothings gonna change that. (butt) (mspo)

I don't know why a lot of people are bashing American cars. From my personal experience I've had no problems with them. I owned a '97 Sunfire coupe (base, with no options lol) for my university days and it was a great little car. Sure it doesn't have much power and yes handling is nowhere near the sport compact sedans, but hey, for a student with limited income, it's good bang for the buck, the little sunfire was.... In the 4+ years & 60k clicks I've driven I've never had any problems with the car.

My brother bought a Olds Intrigue and he, too, had never had problems. Our family has a Caravan and again, no problems. I had to let the Sunfire go to help pay for MBA and now that I'm done I'm looking to buy again. Was thinking of going back to Sunfire but I don't like the redesigned one. So now I've narrowed down to two cars: MSP or Spec V (hence I'm on this forum occasionally haha)

Oh and to stay on the topic a bit, I personally don't like the Neon's front a little. It's still too "cute" for me (remember when Neon's first came out? Their ad slogan was "Hi.") but certainly I wouldn't go as far as calling it an ass or piece of crap just because that's unnecessary since styling is subjective and all you have to say is whether you like it or not.

I still don't understand, I have said I like the MSP!! I might still buy one, but I point out the error of ones thinking, or give some helpful advice to a noob and I get "Neons are POS", "You don't know value", WTF is up with that. Thanks for the respect...:wtf:

You guys all bash on this SRT-4, but how many ppl already have clunking and rattling MSP's? Quite a few if i don't recall

you see, thats the thing.

my MSP has the clunk now...and i still wouldnt consider driving an srt-4 instead.......even if it was 15k

just my opinion tho...

....the SRT is faster in the straight line with out a doubt.....but that is not something that is very important to me.....

How much faster is your car with the Bosal and the CAI? :D

The flame war began to cool down, so I thought I'd re-kindle it. :)

Say what you will about the SRT-4 just being a Neon underneath it all. The Mazdaspeed is still a Protege, remember.

Frankly, I love that all the manufacturers are coming out with hot compacts now. What a great time to be buying a car. SRT-4, Spec V, MSP, SVT, WRX, Evo 8, RSX... so many letters and numbers, so little time...

And this view is very nice indeed: http://home.tampabay.rr.com/blackcat/DSCF0001.JPG

Check out the video in the video/photo section on a SRT-4 racing a WRX and AWD DSM.

I'm more excited for the fact that domestic car markers are finally starting to take notice of the sport compact segment. Any new addition to this benifets us all, and makes going to the race track little more interesting.
