There is still one point people always miss in the end.
Even though the air goes through a turbo, starting off with colder air is better period. Taking warm engine air THEN heating it through the turbo then trying to cool it down through the IC can NOT be better then starting out with colder air through a CAI.

Well, sort of, because of the intercooler cools the air before it enters. Though, our stock intercoolers are not that efficient. So, the CAI dosn't hurt anything. But, some might say, with a turbo, the less bends in the intake, the better. The CAI has alot of pipe and bends, vs. a SRI is, well, short. My two cents

The difference in piping I don't feel is that big a difference, in addition the turbo can suck without trouble. It's one bend and not a long distance. With a turbo in our engine bay the air underhood is hotter than most cars. Taking air from outside is just a plain good idea.
It should matter less in that case. The stock IC is rather inefficient. I would like to see some take some readings of air temps with various setups and see how much of a difference the CAI would make.

well ive have the aem, ive made an intake and played around with stock airbox filters etc. If you are using a CAI your car will be faster due to the IAT sensor reading cold air. When I am running short ram with the AEM the air from behind the rad is blown right on the sensor and the ecu retards timing making the car even slower, however it does allow you to run slightly higher boost levels without detonation, so take your pic. idle is somewhat worse with a cai or sri compared to the sotck box and pipes. not bad, but with my bov venting too i get low rpms at times.
And the CAIs make a wicked cool sucking sound and dont forget the "turkey sound". LOL I get more coments about my car and the crazy sounds it makes. I love my CAI and taking in colder air is always better we need to scrape together what ever cold air we can since our SMICs suck.

I don't think the bends in a cai make much of a difference because its a vacuum....iono if that makes any sense.

yeah, so wouldnt it be the same??? Im just sayin this cuz my friend who knows a whole shitload about cars said something bout how its just a vacuum and it doesnt flow that slowly, its almost instantaneous.KySpeed said:Eh i look at it this way..
