SRI and heat issue.

heat transfer with that would be close to nothing when your regarding air temp (power)..if you want to get crazy, get a cheap indoor/outdoor thermometer use the out door part to read temps, i did this all over my cai from outside the filter, in the pipes and even in the intake mani, which is where the air temp really changes.. only 2-3 deg avg in the pipes, but 10-20 deg where i had it in the mani, thus i went out and bought a thermo spacer.. i havent tested the thermo spacer yet with the thermometer but ass dyno says more spunk....OH and leave it CAI- dont do short ram, there was a major air temp differance between the two, 20 deg avg while driving, but at a lights it went of the chart on the digi thermometer of over 120 deg... i has been said that on AVG, evey 10 deg of air temp is = to 1.7% hp gain, and like 2.1% turbo, etc...

When my filter was first near my radiator, the punch was very weak once the engine got hot. in the morning while i first drive it, the punch feels alot stronger.

now with my filter away from the heat, the punch is always there even while its hot.

WOT at certain speed bringing the RPM right at the power band=burst of speed="punch" :- D

It's been stated here and there, but I want to put everything into one post, to try and clarify. No matter what set up you use, stock, SRI, CAI. All of these components will get warm/hot because of underhood temps. The big difference is filter location. SRI gets air from the radiator, intake air temps are very HIGH. Stock takes it from front of car, has a small amount of "ram" effect at speed. CAI pulls air from close to ground, so intake temp closer to ambient air temp. The air doesn't stay inside any of these intakes to be affected by the pipe temperature.

SRI actually REDUCES your horsepower. It's been dyno proven, so please don't butt in with arguments. The air temp coming off the radiator, kills your power. Plain and simple. So if you prefer to use a SRI, don't put it in the path of the cooling fan air.

however after a kinda short trip in winter, by radiator fan was blowing some nice rather cool air where my filter use to be.
