SR20DETT here i come

Whoah, aim high!

You might want to pick up a back issue of Turbo magazines project Se-R car with the SR20DE in it. The engine is the same as the DET, other than it wasn't turbo from the factory, but the internals are the same I think.

Unless you have some good leads on increasing the pressure beyond what they did, its going to be tough to get to 600HP. They got 17psi on 91 octane for 304.4HP/290lb/ft and on VP C16 racing fuel they got 22 psi for 379.7HP and 352.7 lb/ft of torque. To step all the way up to 600HP at the wheels will be a major undertaking, let us know how it goes!

*edit* The issue I have is April 2003, and that's part 3 of the project, so you could go back two more issues as well.

no they're not

the RWD SR20DET has a different block, coil pack ignition, has oil squirters, LOWER compression, different rods, different head, different cams... and that's just the begining

Whoops!!

Maybe that was discussed in the previous issues, but the displacement is the same, so the block, rods, head don't make that much difference, neither does the compression. The engine they used has 9.5 to 1 compression, and was designed from the factory as a turbo engine. They swapped cams out anyways, and with 22psi, even with a lower stock compression ratio, how is that engine going to almost double the WHP of this one?

Ahh, I finally found a site that has some of the differences. It would be easier to refer to the engines by their JDM code, so from what I understand he's getting the S15, whereas the one in the Turbo article is an S13. That's quite an engine, this site has no availability and wants $5500 plus shipping, and that's for only 300WHP at 18psi. That a bit steep!

the Skylines also run the VQ series as welll as RB (G35 and R35)

when you get your SR make sure you get a new cpu wireing harness-dont question just do.

AS FOR the 510, cant you try to sell the misses the "idea" that the 510 is a "cute" car and will be fuel efficient after you "modify it properly".

and add "it will pay for itself" unless shes engine and mod savvy

cuz man, a 510 on SR crack is just insane-good luck bro, were rootin for ya!

trust me it didnt work. i tried the need the 510 cause its stupid to modify my mp3 when it is my daily driver. and it would cost less to get a 510 and do the sr20 swap and have more power. then it would be to modify my mp3. well she didnt go for it. she is afraid of having a car in the garage that isnt going to be running for a few years. cause i was go to do a ground up restore/mod of it.

and what sucks is ever since she meet me, she has started to come a little motor/engine swavy. she catchs all the rice boys at her work all the time

in a 240. the rb will get you great power. but it will make it more of a straight line car.

and an rb will fit in a 510, but everything will be custom (motor mounts, exhaust) and you need to cut up the firewall.

the rb26dett will bolt right into the 240 in the back but modifications need to be done to the front mounts and such. Also the rb26 trani(all wheel drive) will not fit(unless money is no object, but then just get the skyline)so you will need the rb25 trani. Than add all the hardware and it's a whole lotta money. Ohh yeah, traction will be a b****.

its not an RB cuz to get an RB you gotta get a shyline w/ one in it, also, thier r just rear wheel drive skylines- i doubt anyone will just sell JUST the engine-

havent seen one for sale yet

actually..there are TT motors..SR22DETT motors aka TODA..they do exist..they are psuedo-aftermarket motors..DJ Signal's silvia has one..i've seen it..so nice..but good luck..btw..screw the SR..get the RB25DET..bolts right up!

There are rwd skyline. I say rb25det is better, .5 more displacement, 2 more cylinder for better torque delivery. That's what I'm going for, if I get 1.

That thang is pretty! JDM....

I know there are rearwheel drive skylines, but the rb26 is all-wheel drive, and I think the rb26 only came in all-wheel drive(not 100% sure). Thats why I said to put the rb25 trani(rear wheel drive) because it'll fit.

i had just posted the rb 26 DOES have a non all wheel drive set up- i didnt say it just to say it, and yes 100% sure

Yup, wait til the paint job is done (it will be factory Nissan Super Black). You gotta love the old school Advan wheels too. There's this place in the LA area called "Alteration" and they specialize in importing used, hard to find old school wheels (ie: SSR Super Fins, SSR NEO's, SSR Super Mesh, SSR MK4's, Chevlons, Racing Hart ZR Mesh etc...)

I just did a swap into a customers car. If you have any questions just give me a holla.

Not quite sure why there is so much hatred for the SR on the boards here. Each engine has it's strengths for some they want an easier swap with the SR and not have to deal with tracking down the front subframe, aftermaket oilpan, and sourcing parts for the RB.

If you want JDM y0! show points then by all means do it. I just think it's funny that the MSP and P5 guys that hate on an engine that will stomp a mud hole in their ass.

My mud hole stomper. Please inquire for any future stomping appointments
