I know that a 240sx would get whipped by srt 4 even with a sr20 swap with smilar whp... Even tho the 200sx is lighter, it loses in the rwd department and launching would be hard as hell for him. besides its the torque that counts and the dodge engine has a better torque curve so my money is on srt4...
your screen name suits you well =)

there are way too many factor to say who would win but my money is on the str-4... As for my name i'd say i would suit u better... :-D

My bro raced a srt-4 last week that was make 300 hp and 350 tq and he beat him with only 280 hp and 250 tq(i was suprised because after the race my bother said he lost boost in part of 3rd gear). Why might some of u ask why didnt my brother lose, to answer in one word WEIGHT. The civic that he drives only weighs 2400 lbs wet and the srt-4 weighs about 3000 lbs a diffrence of 600 lbs.

so what?? i beat my friend's s2k up to 75 cuz he had no low end torque and didn't wanna netural drop it...
he fall behind by 1/2 car length in 1st gear and we even the rest of the way...

the second ran we were on a uphit(s2k rwd had the advantage) and kinda wet, i spin my tires the entire first gear and it was over before i hit second..

his car is 2800 lb GVW mine is 3600 lb gvw... but i still won what is ur point??? IF the sr20 can't get traction cuz of the 600 lb lighter, he would lose.. if the srt-4 has a bad shift, he would lose... Its all about knowing ur car.. and personally i think 600 lbs doesn't mean s*** if u can't get the power to the ground... "beacuse so much is riding on ur tires" - its such a ture statement...

too many factors to consider... personally if both car is pushing 400whp the 600lb would acutally help the srt-4 for a better lauch.. we will see when the video comes out.

Ok lets say that both of the cars get good traction off the line and dont miss any gears, the neon still has the disadvantage of being heavy.

agrueed... but i think that 600 lb will help the neon get the better start..

I dont think that nissan needs any more "help" then what they already has.
I hope they will be runnin on slicks whenever they race.

(rofl)

god this post is gay with out real details.......its stupid to speculate about these cars basised on bits and pieces of info....oh and a sr powered 240sx is no pos....i knew a guy with a sr powered 240 with only 350whp and he was runnin consistent 11 flat on slicks.....stupid to think a fwd is faster from a dig then a rwd of equal whp

oh and there are slight difference be tween certain sr motors.....doe sthis se-r have a gti-r engine in it or the stock sr20de? the gti-r had individual thorttle bodies and better flowing head......also othe rmodifications to the block besides lower compression of course..i think it had oil groove but i havent looke dat fwd sr motors in a while

Mike - I'll let you know when we go, time and such

Noclue- I have no idea what your trying to say, 600 lbs heavier is not an advantage. They don't weigh down race cars. But like you said, we'll see when the vid comes out.

Funktownp5- the rules are no slicks, no nitrous, no funny stuff, and no additional weight reduction. The 200sx stands where it is, because if there was no weight reduction at all he would have to put the a/c back in, and that would mean the turbo would have to come out.

Autobox- I'll ask steve to read your post and answer your question. I don't know the answer.

it should be a good race either way...local guy had a 10 sec street se-r.....just swaped on slicks and off he went lol........keep us posted

the GTiR had individual throttle bodies, mech lifters, and lower compression. i already mentioned the oil squirters. it had a beefier set of rods and bearings. the GTiR engine, however, is so rare that it isnt even really worth mentioning, but since you have, i will let you in on it.

the GTiR is the "54C" variant. the individual TBs help, but the head doesnt really flow any better. the cams, being mech lifter, are limited in aftermarket availibility (it was the only solid lifter SR20 other than the even rarer VE model which with its Neo-VVL, which has 3 lobes per valve like VTEC, makes its cams incompatible). the "high port" head is believed to flow the best. the 54C's head is not like the high port or the low port, kind of in between, but the high port's direct path to the combustion chamber seems to breathe the best.

stock block record of 649whp is currently held by a regular "53J" variant, however. the highest 54C is 424wp, held by J Banach. Chris Allen AKA "shaggy" has the highest 54C power, at 497whp, but this was with forged pistons (the 54C still had cast pistons, and therefore was limited to the same power levels despite its beefier main bearings and rods) and carillo rods. the 740whp JUN hyperlemon had a 2.2L stroker kit, a mildly ported head, and some other stuff. because of the cast pistons, in stock form, all SR20 variants were limited to about the same maximum power before the pistons were blasted apart.

the individual throttle bodies did improve top end breathing and throttle response, but were not as good as a good aftermarket intake manifold such as the GReddy unit or O2induction's sheetmetal manifold.

the 54C was also extremely expensive, expect to pay about $2000 for one in good running condition. my JDM 9.5:1 motor was $300. since they have about the same power capabilities, which would you choose?

i have a stock 9.5:1 NA variant with the high port head. FWD of course. i bought the SE-R new, thats why i have it. the 240 was much more expensive and the SR20 swaps werent too easy 6 years ago.

and, yes, the Neon does have more low end torque, but it also has a Quaife Helical LSD (i have a clutch type), which is not very useful for drag racing (it still allows a one tire fire) and adding more tq just makes more wheelspin in a FWD car. the Neon also only revs to 6500 rpm. my car revs to 7750. the neon makes boost about 600 rpm sooner, and makes a little more tq. my car, however, has a much wider powerband (4500-7750 is better than 3900-6500) and the boost doesnt come up as violently as the neon (making traction easier). my car also has shorter gear ratios, offsetting the tq disadvantage with gear multiplication (tq=FR) the car has run an 8.3 @ 99 in the 1/8 mile on 205-40-17s and i will be on some bigger tires for this event.

and lighter cars will always leave the line faster. this is elementary physics, and everyone should know this. A=F/M or Acceleration is equal to Force divided by Mass. the higher the mass, the lower the acceleration. it always takes more force to move a heavier object. dont believe me? throw a bowling ball, and throw a penny, which was easier?

and lastly, i dont think you guys know how much traction i have. Peter rode in it, even dicking around, the thing only lights up the tires when i want it to. a nice advantage of having all of your power at the upper, more manageable end of the powerband.

thats for the 411 on the fwd sr.....i came from the rwd sr community and heard only lil about the sunny's sr variety......good luck....a guy over here in md has a 400+ built sr and it was beastly to say the least.....make sure to get vids and scaned slips.....this community like many are ignorant to anything but :)

yo peter, i'm in!
i've heard so many stories about this car that i HAVE to see it!

i'm sure marat will be down too

ohhh nice lol..oh hey do u run a aquamist or other water injection? before i sodl my 240 a few rwd sr guys were just startin to use them to get that last bit of whp from the stock block....just wonderin

C16 generally cures this. the water injection is hugely taxing to the ignition, and is mainly used to compensate for the 91 octane piss we get here.
