squeeling belt? i hope

oddly enough in the colorado cold, randomly out of a no where my belt started squeeling. the vehicle is 67k old, so maybe its time for a new belt? i smelled what was almost like burned tires or clutch, but i dont know, any problems about the 99's i should know about?

check the belts and see....could be the alt starting to seize up

im starting to thing the same. I get odd fluctuations when I start the car or operate the powered windows. Also at stopping the car seems to idle a little low till for a bit. Odd, second mazda, first thing to fix on both of them is alternator.
