Springs: Spool vs. Eibach

Hey guys. I'm planning on ordering a new set of springs in the next few weeks. Now I've narrowed my choices down to 2. These have come the most recommended for my needs but I'm still not sure I know everything I need to know about the two.

So far I know that the Spools create a 2' drop all around. And the Eibach's a little less. Now I have a friend with the EIbach's in and he tells me that it's a great ride. Quality is still there and he can still pack 3 people in the back without any worry.

What I really want to know is if I can do the same if i decide to get the Spools. I think a 2' drop is perfect for me and If i can still get a good ride out of them I'm ready to purchase. But If the Eibach's give the better ride then I guess I wouldn't mind paying a little more for less drop.. i think. haha.

thanks guys.

hey ssd_pr5, I have the spool springs, and the ride is good. The one problem you may have is that spool springs are not as available as the Eibachs'. Even my local stereo shop has a set of eibachs for a p5 hanging on the wall. I have heard that the actual drop on the front end is about the same with both sets, it is the rear that is about a .5 lower with the spools. If you get in on the spools when they come out in a few weeks, just keep in touch with spoolinmp3, then I would recommend them. If you cant then obviously Eibach is also an excellent choice. Hope this helps. Later, :)

If you want a 2.0 inch drop all around you can get Sprint springs from Nopionline.com. Just input your make/model and look in suspension.

so all these springs..no matter what the drop..will still allow me to get 5 people into my mp5 without any trouble right?

also, if anyone knows the prices for these springs...what should i expect to pay for a good deal on the SPOOLs, EIBACHs and SPRINTs?

thanks again.

I would go witht the Eibachs. I have them and love them. I had never heard of the Spool springs until a few months ago. Eibach has been around forever, they are a very reputable company and are ISO certified, which means they go through rigorous quality audits year round. Just my opinion though.

On the other hand, The Spoolin guys hang out on this forum, and drive Proteges, so any feedback or problems we have goes directly to them. :)
I heard that Eibachs give you a bit softer, closer to stock ride as opposed to Spoolin. True?

I can't speak for the Spool springs(I don't have them), but the Eibachs are way more stiff than stock. But I really like the way they handle. Much better feedback than stock.

Alittle off the subject, what can I expect to pay if I take my P5 into the shop to have the springs(only) put on?

so? more opinions....... what is a better set of springs? what is the bet way to go?

i need to get a bunch of fat kids at school to pile into my car, so i can see what it would look like lowered (laugh)

not to get off track, but i was wondering, how many of you dropped guys have changed out the stock struts? i know that people keep asking if its necessary, and the consensus seems to be that it is a good idea, but im just curious as to how many of you are riding dropped on stock springs. thanks

****BUMP*****

Ok, so how about this ....... who has pics of their car with installed Eibach pro-kit????
