Springs for msp

Alright so I've done a couple of searches on lowering msp's and I don't really get the whole spring rate thing and how it works, but I basically am having a hard time choosing what springs to get. I want to if anything improve the handling on my msp but I am a daily driver and don't want them to be too stiff, just a tad stiffer than normal if any. I'm going for more of handling than looks on this one. Anyone's help and/or pictures would be help.

Spring rate simply refers to how stiff the springs are. If you still want to keep your kidneys, you don't want springs with too high of a spring rate. You probably want something like the Eibach Pro's that has a mild drop and just a bit stiffer... my 2 cents.

Based on your description you want moderation. I have the eibach pro's and they would seem to meet your description in my opinion. Check my sig, I think it's page 4 or so where the spring pics are located. They have settled a touch more than those pics show but you get the idea. NExt to a stock MSP the front drop is very noticeable. It only moved the back down about 1 finger. The ride is much like stock on this progressive rate spring. Good luck choosing.

Cool thanks everyone for the help. So heathen you mentioned the ride is like the stock ride how about handling? Have you noticed any increase in handling now that you are a little lower?

I would describe the ride to be very similar to stock. They feel somewhat softer when not pushed. But the second you start to push the car they definitely grab slightly better than stock. The progressive rate design would seem to live up to it's billing with these springs. Again, the drop is somewhat subtle in the back and noticeable in the front. Also mine took a solid 3-4 weeks to fully settle.

Eibachs sound good! How much and where? Def. would like to get rid of the gap in the front...sound like the springs would also be easier on the struts when driving normal

I just installed eibach pro kit on my car today and very nice. Not to low and not to stiff.. I will try to post pics soon.

http://www.adventon.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=24&CATID=201&ObjectGroup_ID=559

One thing that is tricky is on Adventon they show as $300 but are actually $187 and around $200 shipped which is a great deal IMO. I was really happy with this mod, but sometimes I wish I would have gone lower to satisfy the ricer within.

Heathen,

was just wondering if you looked at the Eibach sportlines too? They have the same drop in teh front but about another 1/2" in the rear. any idea if the spring rates would be much different?

here are some pictures of my msp with eibach sportline springs

I just ordered a set of sportlines from www.racingextreme.com they are members of the forum and great to work with. I got a heck of a deal on my Eibachs from them. Sportlines are a little stiffer than pro kit. I think the pro kit may actually have a lower spring rate than stock MSP springs. Not sure though. (scratch)
