ok pple...I just installed a sleeve and spring coil over kit on my MP5 and after a few days of driving around, there is a loud "spring" noise coming from the front suspension. It happens mainly when I turn. WTF is that? and how do I get rid of it?

does it go boing boing?

not quite but more like the springs are turning with the wheels but the upper mount isn't. it's really hard to describe.

Were they Cheap and generic or meant for the car?

I got it from NOPI. I spoke to the guy before I bought them and asked that question specifically and he said that it was meant for the car. It even gave the spring rate.

I hope to god you didnt buy ebay special coilover setup...

Junk and will never work ever!

Put you stock springs back in there until you get real lowering components.

Well would you mind telling us what brand they are??? I would make sure everything is tightened down well.

"Number#1" from NOPI Online. I've never had problems with their stuff before...and yes I dbl and trpl checked that everything was tightened down. I used my air tools to do the whole project.

Yea, sadly those are pretty much a universal piece. The spring rate might be correct but they're not specific. I'm not sure if Megan makes springs for the Protege. But if so they're good quality and very inexpensive (right around 100.00) and usually around a 2" drop all around. See if you can find them if not try Tanabe. That what I run on my Scion very happy w/them and very low. Mine were 175.00 shipped. Good luck!!!

You oughta at least post some pics so we can see the drop. You could probably sport like three inches can't you?

Those will never be quiet, You have Metal on Metal contact.

what if I put rubber where the metal makes contact? would that help a lil, you think?

I installed a set of these on my old Focus. Actually with the spring rate they had it drove like it was on rails, bumpy rails, but rails none the least. The sound I would hear was only at low speeds like turning into parking stalls etc.. really nothing to worry about unless your hearing it during normal driving conditions. As far as rubber is concerned. it might be a good idea to reinstall the factory bumpstops ( cut down of course ) and my Tanabes have a plastic/rubber wrap that I had to install on to each spring. Maybe someone has some they didn't use maybe they'd be willing to part with. It may help
