Anyone have any Ideas on the spring meet. I have never been to a meet so I'm not the best one to plan these things. Something seems to always come up and I'm not able to make the meets, maybe this time I'll be able to show.

I'm in Bowing Green, so Louisville is better than Lexington for me.

For me, the problem is that the events happen when I have a choice of going to the meet, going to a show, or going to a cruise-in. The meet loses out, especially if it's a night affair.

Like you, I'm not the best for planning events. I'm too lazy. I'd rather coach someone else and let them do the leg work. It can take a lot of time to get one set up. Getting people to participate is the toughie. My son has tried a couple of times to set up a local Mustang group for going to shows and cruise-ins. The interest isn't there because folks have lives that are just too tied up in other things to participate. So, we've made our venture a family thing. We have three Mustangs in our family and a friend with one. It works for us; but, it still frustrates my son that he can't get something going. He's not much of an organizer, either. Where I'd worry people to death with info about meets, etc, he doesn't. I still won't get invovled. Did it for too many years to start again.

Let's set one up. I set up a bunch of meet backs when FocusXtreme (local Focus enthusiast club) was big.

First thing we need to do is decide on a location. Louisville isn't really central but seems to be the best place for everyone. I know we've had successful Mazda meets at Tom "Sawyer" State Park. They have a nice barbecue and shaded area with picnic tables if we do a cook out. But that's just an idea. We need input from everyone.

Then we need to pick a date and time. Weekends are best for everyone, and Sundays are usually the best.

Now, we have a glutton for punishment who has volunteered to do the work.

Tom Sawyer is a great place. I'd also make it a Sunday afternoon event because folks have too many other things to do on Saturdays. For me, it would most likely be shows, etc that would hold me up. Sunday afternoons are a lot more open for many of us.

Then we need to pick a date and time. Weekends are best for everyone, and Sundays are usually the best.

You almost just have to pick a date yourself and run with it because everyone has some date that's going to conflict with your plans. Set your date and let everyone else make their schedule fit that. Otherwise, you'll never get a date set, which can be frustrating enough to cancel the whole idea. Those who really want to come will be there. Others can try, the next time.

And, there I go coaching, again.

^^^ ROFL! I would definitely be down for a meet. I have yet to go to one yet. Tom Sawyer Park would definitely be a good place to host it. Thank god the weather is warming up to!

Okay, so Tom Sawyer.

How about either Sunday April 19th or Sunday April 26th?

We can meet up, cruise some back roads, get food.

Either day works for me...I will just ask off work that day.

My name is Gregg BTW, and I will more than likely be the only person w/ a loud Mazda6. lol

You're the leader. You set the date. We'll follow, if we're interested. You may want to invite some other Mazda fans you know. There don't seem to be that many active ones on this forum. Maybe there are some lurkers; but, we active ones seem limited. There is the Bluegrass Miata club, for one. I'm sure there are some others in the Mazda family who might show.

Depending on my schedule I'll try to make it down there again. I enjoyed last time :)

I'm still keeping an eye on this one, myself. If it's on a Sunday, I have a chance of making it. I'll be at shows, etc on Saturdays. Show season starts on April 4th, for us. Then, it's busy weekends until November. I can't wait!

I believe you just set the date. I'm going to add that to my schedule for next month. How about a time and place to meet at Tom Sawyer?

Uh, oh. I just added the date to my list; but, I discovered a show in Richmond on that day. Decisions, decisions.

04/26 sounds good. The weekend before I am going to a UL football scrimage and then going camping so the 26th sounds much better!

OK, now we have a date, time, and place. There is one more minor thing. Where at Tom Sawyer? Do we meet at the parking lot of the swimming pool/activities building? I guess that's the main building on the site. The address most likely refers to that location, huh? If I come, I may want to visit the model airplane club on the other side of the park.

Yeah, this is the main parking lot located right off the road. If you looking AT the main building, park over to the right, basically where all the other Mazdas are. :D
