Sporty Cars on Today Show on NBC

I'm pissed...

Yeah, so I hear Matt Lauer talk about how they are going to do a short bit on small sporty cars designed for the younger market. Since I kinda make my own hours with work, I decided to wait a little bit and see what was up.

The bit was called "Pocket Rockets with Power". They featured the Matrix, Pontiac Vibe (aren't these cars one in the same basically?), Subaru WRX Wagon, Civic SI, and Ford Focus SVT.

NO MAZDA PROTEGE 5? What, we are the first on the market, stil lthe absolutely SHARPEST looking ride out of the bunch (maybe not the most HP...)

What's up with that? This isnt the first thing I have seen on this part of the car market, and yet is isn't the first time our car has been "OVERLOOKED".

On the other hand, I'm kinda glad that our car wasn't featured...Let everyone go buy all the cars that were featured...Make my Yellow P5 catch just that much more attention...

Thoughts?

I am with you Cmack.....we do tend to get over looked by these shows....HOWEVER....I have YET to be overlooked when driving down the road....or in the drive though..or at the local hangout....my Yellow P-5 gets attention everywhere I go with it.....THAT makes me feel a lot better than the attention on some TV show.....seeing as really shows me what the general public thinks...and not some idiot TV producer.

I think that the title of the bit says it all: "Pocket Rockets with Power."

We do not have a pocket rocket with power. Now, I love my P5, but it is the FURTHEST thing from a pocket rocket.

0-60 in 9.5 seconds is more like an anti-pocket rocket.

LOL Gene....true....after all nearly EVERY write up on the car says "needs more power" .... but they sure are a head turner!!!!

Welcome to the land I call "zero to the left". When I had my Plymouth Prowler, it never showed in comercials, in very few magazine articles, and never compared to Corvette, Porsche, Mercedes. It was on a class by itself: the bad ass looking car that nobody wanted to talk about. Yet it was one amazing looking and technologically advanced car. Yet it got no respect. I feel the same with the Pro5, it looks awesome but it gets no respect from the media. Who cares! :p

I like the Car and Driver review where they say:

Impatient readers who've already skipped ahead to the spec panel will be unconvinced that a 9.5-second mini-breadbox could ever qualify as sporty, but they have yet to play chase with a Lingenfelter Corvette on twisty Michigan back roads in a Proteg5.
