Looked up the mazda canada webpage and found that the GX and GS trim (the 2.0L Mazda 3) comes with casual cloth seats, while the other higher (And more expensive) trims come with sports seats...

uhh... what would be the difference? I mean, would it make a huge deal, especially in autox?

wongpres?

I believe its just an extra item that the dealer can boast about. Anyways, I believe one would have those "sparco torino"-like seats with complete racing harnesses for autoxing?

Terminology first, so we're all on the same wavelength. There are several interior trims for the Mazda3, and I'm going to go by Mazda's interior colour code from now on. Here are most of the colour codes (there are a few more for the cheap euro-trims that I'm not listing):

BP9 - all black interior, either cloth or leather - sample (top pic) http://groups.msn.com/BrunoLuong/mazda3.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=51
BR0 - beige interior - sample - same as URL above (bottom pic)
BP5/BP6 - blue/red two-tone seats - sample http://groups.msn.com/BrunoLuong/mazda3.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=43
BP7/BP8 - blue/red two-tone seats - sample http://groups.msn.com/BrunoLuong/mazda3.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=44

Now that we're all clear on the terminology. Canada and the US models get: BP9, BR0, BP5,BP6 (the exact one depends on trim and exterior colour). All the preliminary specs from both US and Canada indicate that N. America's not getting the BP7/BP8 interior.

And now to actually answer your question, the Canadian GX and GS sedan trims get BP9 or BR0 interiors, and the GT trims get BP5/BP6. If you choose the GT leather option, you get a BP9 interior.

OH! Okay :)

So the Mazda 3 will not get cheapo cheapo seats that don't hold you in the seat?

Well, as you can see, all the seats have the same shape and form (they just differ in the colouring patterns). I've only sat in the BP5/BP6 seats, but I'm almost certain that the padding, seat frame, etc... are common between the seat types (heck the seat frame is one of the things shared with the Volvo S40/Ford Focus).

So when you're autocrossing, there's no difference with each of the interior types (though leather and cloth will obviously grip differently).

Oh okay, then that makes total sense. I was thinking that the GT "sports seats" had more thigh and shoulder coverage to encompass your body better (much like racing seats).

But hey, as long my butt doesn't slide during hard cornering... I'm happy. Leather is probably out :p

As for interior color, can you choose which one you want? Beige is so... family-ish :p

What does this mean? we're not getting the Blue Black cloth?

Both BP5/BP6 and BP7/BP8 are two-toned cloth, but the patterning is different. Look at the pictures more closely.
