Sport-20 Pic Thread

Yeah, I saved a lot of money by getting aftermarket fogs and not doing the fenders or JDM headlight covnersion (yet). That's an expensive b****.

Yeah if i do the conversion i wont get the JDM headlights and i will probably get aftermarket fogs. I just got to find a weekend? where im not doing anything and wont need my car so i can take it to a body shop and get everything installed after i order it from corksport.

LOL!!! Yeah, I still remember the day I ordered the headlights. I placed the order on Corksport's site and all I had to do is click the confirm button and I was done. It took me about 20-30 mins to hit the button because I didn't know if I really wanted to spend that much on headlights. Once I confirmed the sale, I cursed myself out saying how much of an idiot I was for spending that much on headlights. But when I finally got them in the mail and laid eyes on them, my satisfaction knew it was money well spent.

Don't get the fenders, they're not needed. The stock fenders work just fine. Once I realized this I tried to get a refund on the fenders but they wouldn't take them back as they were a special order item. It doesn't matter because I'll make good use of them, but it's false advertising if you ask me. I think Derrick quoted me $720 for just the headlights and corners if that's the route you want to go. Still expensive, but you'll save yourself around $200.

One thing I would like to get are the JDM bumper supports. They sit on the corners underneath the front bumper and holds it up. They're not made to house the JDM headlights because these headlights are wider and shorter which causes a huge gap between the bumper and headlights. The JDM supports close the gap because they sit a tad bit higher. I had to modify my supports by cutting them to fit the headlights with sheetmetal shears but would like the real thing.

i want a pic of your modification on the support ... if you have one !!!

I'm looking to buy those lights but not sure for this winter, maybe juste make projector for my stock one.

Sorry, I always forget to take pics when working on my car. I need to make a habit in doing so for other member asking me questions on things I do.

Test fitted my bumper/grill and the rest of the kit. Had to have my exhaust lowered 1/4" to give the rear lip room. I found out that I have a torn motor mount in the process. The whole exhaust torques and the muffler moves about 1/4" to the drivers side when you get on it because of the mount. Probably going to fill it or get something aftermarket to fix that.

With goldlines I'm going to have to relearn how to drive the car because of how low everything is. I didn't have a camera but I'll post pics next weekend when it's fitted again.

Can someone with a p5 post a picture of how the fog lights are mounted? I think I may need to make a new bracket or I'm just overlooking how these should fit.

Don't tell me any of that! I'm a recovering mod-a-holic and the sheer temptation of those gorgeous two-bulb JDM headlamps... mmmmm headlamps *(drooling)*...

Damn you! Still, $700+ is way too steep for me to justify them from Corksport. I wonder if any of our JDM contacts on the fourms here (JDMSam) can get them for any cheaper...

There should be a black bracket that the foglight bolts onto (one bolt on the bottom of the bracket) the foglight can pivot a little to adjust aiming.

The bracket also has 2 or 3 studs/nuts which attach the bracket to the bumper.

Sooo...bracket bolts to bumper ---> foglight attaches to bracket via 1 big bolt on the bottom IIRC.

Sorry no pics tho.

hmm.. something tells me that the fogs I have don't have the same bracket. That's no good.

If someone could post pictures that would be a great help.

Sounds like you don't have the actual P5/MSP fogs. What do the fogs you have look like? Are you able to post a pic of them? We could help you out more if we knew what they looked like.

If they don't look like these then you have the wrong ones.

Sure, I only have a few because it's still unfinished but I can post what I have. I'm in the middle of doing a complete MSP swap. The only thing I have left is to change out the dash(which is gonna blow), steering wheel and column, seat belts, and carpet. I took me over a year to gather everything. The carpet and seat belts are the only things I'm still missing. Once complete I'll post more.

I bought most of the interior parts from a guy selling them off Ebay for around $300. If I had bought everything brand new I probably would have paid triple that. These pics are with the interior completely striped and then with most of the MSP interior.

I'm now working on getting my car back into shape because I've been neglecting it. But it's coming along slowly but surely.

Just wanted to say great car, Clint. I think you have one of the nicest Mazdas on the boards. Your car screams classy! Even better that its a 99 sedan. You inspire a lot of us other 99, 2000 guys to have our cars look like yours. Great job! I know I can't say that enough, but you've done a job well done.

I appreciate the kind words. I've seen the Sport20 community grow from one to many over the last few years. Every example is great on it's own way. It's great to be part of it. One day, I'd love to have a Sport20 meet. Logistics wise, it'd seem difficult, but it would be awesome.

Negatize, I recognize your car a while back at a Circuit City parking lot in Gainesville, FL. I saw it and I thought hey, that car is on the forums!

Yeah, I worked at that Circuit City for a while when I was living there. That's awesome.

Good luck! The black interior makes the interior of the car so much nicer to be in. The "poo brown" probably was the the least favorite part of my car before I swapped to black.

And yeah, it would have definitely cost more than three times. I spent almost $4k, for all new parts except for the door panels, steering wheel, and driver airbag. The passenger airbag alone is $450.

Damn, I see people selling both airbags with seatbelts included for around $400 on Ebay all the time. But I agree with you on the brown, I can't stand the sight of it. I'm tolerating the dash for now but it has to go, everything else is so much more nicer on my eyes. Especially with the darker tint I just put on. I envy my wife because her 6 came with black interior and I love it to death.

I was wondering if you could help me out with something? I read your post on Panhandlegearheads and you didn't go in depth on the HVAC portion. Was the harness plug & play and everything from the harness to the HVAC just bolted right in? Was there alot of cutting and splicing involved? How complex was the task?

I'd really like to switch to auto a/c. I might just get everything I need for the a/c from a donor car so I can see exactly where everything runs and bolts up to before I take it out so there's no mistake.

Thanks in advance

BTW, I'm up for a Sport20 meet any day. I'd drive coast to coast if I had to, but since I live in TX(which is in the middle) that makes it so much better for me because I can make it no matter where it's held.

can you just change the dash without changing the radio bezel so you don't have to mess with the ac system?
