Spool Turbo bugs? (56K beware)

mines fine, other then some mixups with parts. but i did have a problem with the dumptube. terry sent anotha one out though. but no my car is still not done. this week hopefully

does htis dump tube problem only occur when you want to route it back into the exhaust?

it doesnt go into the exhaust, mine runs off the wastegate towards the radiator and to the left or right. i think terry forgot that i had the tial and made a mistake. no big deal. he sent me a new one so its all good.

That has nothing to do with it. Check out the pics...whether it goes to atmosphere or your exhaust, it still HITS the turbo.

Terry, could you do me a favor and send me two more of the "Manifold bolt frontside" bolts? Also, I tried to screw in the "manifold bolt/nut backside" like you said between my mani and my turbo, but it's too thick to fit into the thread. The only place it COULD fit is between the mani and the engine, but on half the holes I'd have to drill it out just a hair so it would slide through. The ceramic coating probably added just enough so it's BARELY too tight to slide through easily.

Also, if you could post a pic of where the "manifold bolt/nut backside" should be installed, that'd be a big help. Thanks man!

After reading a few recent threads I have come toa few conclusions....Everyone LOVES the spoolin turbo kit, but there seems to be constant confusion surrounding it, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the installation process...

I think it would be a great idea for Terryand his crew to do a full out, color photo, step-by-step instruction manual..similar to the manual produced by Flyin' Miata..maybe even more specific!-

Im sure you must know your kit like the back of your hand by now, Terry..Save yourself alot of annoying phone calls from confused customers and take the time to make a descriptive set of instructions! You guys feel me here?

The kit looks nice, but it's install process and just random little fitment bugs in general that are the problem. But like I said, Terry seems dedicated to working all of that out.

:D Amen, man. I've been saying this for quite some time. Answer it in the manual and that's one less phone call for every kit sold. I've actually been working with Terry for the past few weeks on making the manual better, and I must say he's very open to suggestions on it and has definitely improved it since I saw the original version a month or so ago. However, it still has a ways to go before it's as good as the FM manual.

Good to hear that things are getting resolved.

And a slap on the back to Terry for not "abandoning" purchasers of his kits. I'm next!

Hehe, yeah gotta love Terry for that...some guys take your money and run. As soon as Terry realized the significance of the problems, he got right on it for me.

Well Well...Kooldino you FINALLY joined the darkside...congrats!

No surprise Terry is offering full support. (thumb)

Got my manifold, etc back in this morning. I only had time to check out the manifold, but it sits pretty damn flat on the table I put it on. More updates later. :-)

yea/....where has terry been lately? I noticed he has been seldomly appearin here now...

I also have had many unfortunite problems with the kit, luckily I bench fitted the parts b4 tearing apart the car. I have found several erros however Terry has been there and shipped new parts out.
Its just a shame I have had the kit for two months and as of yet am still awaiting some of my parts.
Did anybody install a gasket betweenthe downpipe and the turbine exhaust flange ? Old rule metal to metal needs gasket or (leaks) !!

It seems you had a lot of trouble installing your kit. In my opinion that is not a professionally designed kit due to all your comments. I installed in my Protege5 a kit designed by Hiboost Turbo Systems www.hiboost.com. I installed it in ten hours with no trouble. Everything fitted perfectly and everything needed came with the kit. I am very happy with the car and I dyno tested it with 195 WHP results with the cat converter.

i bet alot of money could be saved by not having to send out extra parts.......................................................eh?

also prot5turbo...i like that hiboost kit but on their site it says
"Does not affect longevity of the engine"

i dunno how this can be true....anyone care to comment?

also, how much was it, i dont see a price anywhere
