Sponsorship

i don't know how carsponsorhips.com works but with SCP they ARE your "sponsor". they simply get you a "discount" price on parts. it's a bogus deal. i can find cheaper parts else where.

I applyed to carsponsorships.com and got sponsored by 2 companies, I just got the e-mail today, so I don't know which companies. they also said that I can apply for a nopi sponsorship, because they are looking for my car right now. they are sending me a package with all the info right now, we'll see what happens.

Yeah,
I just got the call from sportcompactpro

It sounded good. Too good to be true.

I didn't get a chance to talk with him in full detail, so I will probably be telling him thanks but no thanks.

me and a couple of freinds did this I ended up not signing my contract. You dont get 12,000 dollars to mod your car, its an account with them and what happens is you pretty much pay full price just not all of it comes out of your pocket. Say an intake costs $325, and they give you whatever discount they give you, and you pay 200 for it the other $125 comes out of that account. And they say you can only buy through them unless they cant get it made or find it then you can go somewhere else. The discount isnt that great either cuz my freind tried to get a supercharger for his civic thru them and it was only $100 difference than asking price.

if it sounds too good to be true,

It probably is

its fake. SAVE your $90 and spend in on PARTS!

Everyone is gettin gthe same rap, and in my opinion $$$ is what talks...YES it does cost $90 for that stupid discount structure...BUT I'm sure in 12mos you can make that money back on parts...NOT saying EVERY part is worth it, BUT I'm sure certain parts are......

ANYWAY...I also got the same $625 "FULL" sponsorship from decalkits...and 50% off of house of boom....If you do the numbers, these 2 alone are well worth the $90....plus, IF(key word) they come through and get us other delas like this...then how is it not a sponsorship??? Be it partial or quasi, or semi...its still discounted/free stuff.....

And I'm not sure if I'm gonna do it...but IF you go to a HIN show...they give you tires, springs, and a few other things for FREE.......If someone takes full advantage of this, you can really make out on the deal....is it the best deal..prob. not...but still works out in our benefit...

All I can say is to each their own.....

that's exactly how I think, I got the 2 sponsors u did, and I also applyed for the HIN one. I would say The 2 sponsor make up for the money u paid. So u would still get something out of it.

i jsut finished my sponsorship letter and sent it out to over 80 companies just to see what i can get. So far, ive got a bunch of stuff from Piaa and falken, and a green filter. I guess we will see if anyone else feels generous

what type of stuff do you put on an sponsorship letter? does anyone have an example of one? I am trying to get into this stuff.

Thanks.

first off, to be blunt, don't waste your own time unless you have $10k into your car because you won't be taken seriously.

For the most part i agree with that. Im fortunate that my line of work puts me in contact with the owners and presidents of most of todays tuner companies. Because of this, i can send out a letter to them directly and because i sell their product they will genereally take care of me. Ill also give my proposal to the reps that come through and that ive done business with for years.
Typically you have to have lots done to your car before you will be considered for a sponsorship, but they also look at who else sponsors you. If you can line up several quality sponsors then you are more likely to get sponsored.

But as Pat said, if your not in the industry, youve got to have some decent mods to be considered for sponsorships. Now, thats not to say dont try, worst case scenario they will tell you no and your right back where you started. A good example, i met a guy 2 years ago and he like my protege and wa asking me how i got it sponsored, so i told him aobut writing a proposal, sending it out, and be prepared for rejection. He had a old junky honda hb but he sent out over 130 sponsorship proposals and slowly started getting sponsors. Just the other day he called to tell me he just got his c/f hood and hb door for free. His car has come a long way and throughout hte process he was spending money nad he had to get a paintjob but his perserverance paid off and now he has a nice list of about 20 sponors and he took a 1st place trophy at NOPI last fall.

Whats your email, ill let you see the letter i use to give you some ideas, just remember that yours will have to be much more in depth than mine because yours will be going to someone that does not know you and you will have to give them a reason to even read the whole thing. Give them a reason to set yours aside for consideration instead of one of the other hundred they got that day.

i just go word that DEI is giving me an alarm

thats pretty big actually. I was an DEI Authorized dealer for about 7 or 8 years and they never had a sponsor program. Although i got out of the biz about 4 years ago.

Dunno why i never persued sponsorship further, cause my Protege is race prepped and it attends 15-20 events a year with over 250 entrants each time...i guess i figured these sponsorships were for show cars...man, i've been such a dumbass...i'm really much smarter that that....hahahaha

what about those get sponsored web sites that they will right u up a proposal and send it to 100+ companies ? ?

i would love to get sponsors, i only have one.. and its not all that great..

do the hard work and send it out to companies yourself

I have sent out 4 proposals via two day air UPS with about $10 worth of pictures in the envelopes.

No website will come CLOSE to doing it the "right" way. If you are serious about your car, do it yourself. :)

just my .02

yes i just got my packet from carsponsorships.com and it's not all cracked up like they propose. so i don't know what i'm gonna do. and my sponsors were blaupunkt and decalkits.com
