Split-Second AFC N/A Thread

I need help tuning this thing. I used jamesk map but it was running way to lean so i adjusted from 10.3@500rpm ... 9.2@6500rpm incrementing -0.1 through the rpm range. My afrs seem fine but im wondering what vacum ranges should i fill. I filled from -16h to 0 vacum pressure. Again what vacum ranges should i fill? My car idles with a vacum range of -19 or so. This thing is confusing.

my map was only tuned for wot. idle and everything else should run normal. reload the map again.

it only activates after you hit -2.99 hg.

I reloaded the map several times. I was idleing fine. Its when i press the gas i run extremely lean. So lean the wideband wouldnt read anything. From idle all the way up to 2500rmps would be dangerously lean. I would have to launch above that to even get moving if not i would just bog. I adjusted your map and changed the ranges but instead of starting at 9.9 I started at 10.3

Before the ssafc my car would only run rich 10.1afr at WOT at any other throttle position it rarely deviate from 14-15.4afr and sometimes go to 13-14.2afr while going uphill. Now the widenand is really working cuz it goes from 11-16 depending how much gas i give it.

Its running better now but want to fine tune it. Guess i gotta spend atleast $300 and get it tuned at a shop. Gonna test WOT tonight when theres less traffic. The ssafc seems to kick in at partial(1/4) throttle. Im just worried about blowing my motor because of too lean conditions.

this thread is realy old. this is the first time i tried this and failed. i bought it a second time a succeded. but i didnt use vista this time, i had a extra lap top.

808mp5- make sure all your connections are good. even though everything might be connected correctly, the afc stil might not work right. make sure that the connections are cleaned up and no wires are exposed. electical tape every wire indivdually.

now for the map. the way i set up the map, there is no need to add fuel. the way my map works is that i set it up so open loop kicks in under -2.99 hg. open loop for these cars are around 11-10 air fuel ratios, so when the car hits open loop, the ratios must be leaned out all the way up till 12.5-13.3 air fuel ratios.

my map actually took a good amount of fuel out, but only where it counts. i also had the mp3 ecu as well. my fuel trim was probably more smoother since my timming was bumped up.

yea i also didnt set the map up for wot, but i set it up close to that, because i saw improvements there as well. if you get a video of your car or something or send me your map, ill try my best to help you out

Ok reloaded the map and everything seems fine. I still get hesitation at start-up though. Car likes to bog and stutter until it warms up a bit. I think taping up the wires was a good idea. I just didn't want to tape them up right away just incase i had to correct something. Now all i have to do is put the computer back under the metal plate then back under the carpet. I think the hesitation/bog/stall/lean condiation at start up might be something else.

Can't wait to get some cash flow to get it professionally tuned. I did find a great guide on How-to and What-to tune for. It explains fuel cut, fuel trims, vacuum pressure, monitoring, closed loop, open loop, etc....

make sure you picked a good vacuum source as well. something comming off the manifold.

I tapped the one you showed me in the other thread. The one coming off the top of the manifold going to the cruise control. According to the R4 software its reading vacuum pressures.

If I install the AFC and put 10's straight across, that will keep the car running normal correct? I should be getting it tomo and I'd like to go ahead and install the afc so that when I do have time to start tuning I can start or if I decide to take to someone professional. I am still doing research on how to tune and doing searches...

Edit: Does the afc run w/ Windows Vista? I've read that it does with one but not the other...

Yes if you leave all 10's that will leave all your AFR unchanged. When you do install make sure there is all 10's in both maps A and B even if your not using map B. jamesk's map is in this thread but i'll attach it again along with a great how-to that's also somewhere in this thread. About vista i am unsure if the software works with it.

Good Luck... When you do get a professionally tuned map please share :)

for some reason when i pull up james map it will not let me view it. says it's only a read-only database. i opened it up in microsoft access.

it is a access database but you won't be able to do anything with it. When you install the SSAFC and the Software for it. You can open the file with the Software for the SSAFC

i just opened it. what mods did you have when you had this map james? it'd just be nice to have a preloaded map (kind of like the msp guys) atleast until i get my car taken in to get tuned.
