Spicy Orange color

I'm not too sure what some people are talking about when they say the color looks flat or pale. Sure it sparkles more in the sun but even on overcast days it still looks great. There is no sun in sight today and the air is filled with fog due to the snow melting and when I looked outside this morning the color does not appear to be pale by any means.

Like Greg, I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED!

However, the paint on these things is PAPER THIN. I got trapped behind a dump truck today and I don't know what it was letting go but I heard it hitting the car. When I got to work, I checked the damage and I now have about 15 chips on the hood and bumper (probably more). It broke my heart but it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I guess she has some character now ;)

Oh yeah! I'm dedicating this Saturday to polishing & waxing mine with Meguiar's Three step system. #1 is the Cleaner (I still have some adhesive around the windshield washers - from shipping). Then #2 is the Polish, and the #3 is the Wax.

Then Sunday, perhaps; I will do my wife's ES (or next weekend).

Hopefully; the weather is going to be nice now - 70+ today.

Well we (Torontoian) hasn't seen the sun in over a week, since our crappy weather has pretty much left every car on the road dirty and salty. Whenever i see my car dirty, under grey skies, it is pale and dull. It's just a flat orange...It's a boring colour like that. IT only looks gorgous when it's clean (maybe even waxed) under clear snny skies. I have yet to see that again...i hope we get sunny skies soon. It's soo depressing in Toronto lately :(

That's part of the reason why I didn't want orange. there's times we go weeks with rain in the summer. And Winter is another story. So, she'd be dirty a lot, and I wouldn't appreciate the beauty of the paint as much as someone in a mostly sunny climate. don't get me wrong, we are on the sunny side of NFLD, but there are times we got a lot of rain as well. This ain't no florida though.

That worries me about the paint being so thin. What about someone keying it or a shopping cart hitting it in the parking lot? If it's that thin, then just about anything will cause chipping. Maybe silver would be better to hold out for. :/

I knew the paint was thin due to other Protege owners complaining but I didn't think it was this thin.

When I saw the chips I immediately thought that I should have waited for the titanium Speed, not thinking that it would have a better paint job but that it wouldn't show chips as much.

Oh well, I still love the car.

I don't know if it is common to Mazda dealers but their cars aren't really clean when you take delivery. Mine was quite dirty and yours seems to have been washed quickly. We would not have let a car leave the lot like that where I used to work (Honda dealer, my job was to prepare cars for delivery)

i didnt have any adheasive on the wipers, but i did have the residue from that sticker on the bumber(did we ever find out what those japanese characters ment???) but it has all but come of in two washes... the last of it should come off this week.

When I bouht my car, he dealership called me on a Wednesday at 10:30 am, saying my car was there, ready to go home by 4:00pm. I got there at 5:00, and didnt get to leave until 7:30. They had to do the final alignment and wash it(keep in mind they had it all morning)...It still wasn't clean, so they wanted me to bring it back that Saturday, and I left it with them ALL DAY. When I picked it up, it still had sticky stuff from the protective film on it...
