Spicy front end DMV need help/advice

I'm just threw up thinking about another spicy off the street. I'm going to assume that either the car is paid for or you have gap ins. Did the ins, tell you how much they plan to give you? I'm curious to see how much these are worth to them. Def buy it back and sell the parts. You'll get a few P5 guys looking for the entire stock turbo set-up, You WILL see your money back if you really start getting into it. Most of the NA guys jump into these to get MSP stuff. I know I'm in the market for an exhaust and split second. I might even pick up random parts just to have them.

yeah sadly its Totaled... I saw the first pic and i saw it coming.

If the airbags deploy, means its totaled. Get the parts off now taht u can sell easily or if you want to buy another MSP make sure u keep parts for that.


Can I haz rear lip? Lol
 
bent frame= totaled. sorry dude, unless its a high end sports or exotic car, you insurance is not going to cover it. i worked with colision repair for some time now, take the pay off, get a new car, part that one asap.
 
ya, I was talking to my dad today and he even said he was sad to see my car like it is, then he reminded me that my insurance is going to sky rocket, (its already at 2.1k for 6months!) so the new car shopping has another variable to add in, im hoping i can find a good deal on a WRX, always open to see any Spicys around, but unlikely, possible chance, depending on how much money i get from this, that I will pick up a couple hundred dollar junker to screw around with until i work this summer lol..

As far as money, i bought the car fully paid from private dealer guy, and insurance guy is going to call me back tomorrow to come up with an estimate if i remember what he said correctly, I bought the car for like $13k, so im really hopping that the value of the car is not much lower than that, if anything, I still have all my stock parts, I'm still not sure what to do with the top part of the cold pipe, there was a bad weld and right now its at WR getting fixed, but I'm suppose to call the guy to arrange payment, (going to be $150 to cut top half off, then custom bent pipe/weld on and weld the flange I gave him on, and he would bend the new one so that it wouldn't hit the break line) Which i was originally going to have the guy that screwed up the weld in the first place pay for.. I think I still might do that, would make for a nice custom WR pipe kit..not sure how that would work out with the welder guy though lol..

Also depending on how much he estimates for the worth of the car, and how much I can estimate if the car can be repaired, if they are close there is a chance that I will fix it, but that is a slight chance, and I'm assuming the cost to fix it would be a bit higher than worth of car.. but who knows...its always that damn frame that kills everything, I will post again tomorrow once i find out what the deal is.. and if the case is that I have to part it out, I will make sure to let you guys know and once I'm home from winter break, I'll have a month to tear the car apart and sell it lol.. should be crazy..but we will see (also, what do people do with the engine? as far as i know nothing past the radiator was damaged)
 
Why may i ask is it that much? I dont even pay that much..... and i was in a car crash where it was 100% my faught and my friend have over 1 million dollars in medical bills (no lie, the crash was ******* bad as hell)

Well, to start it off, in 2005 (which this will come off my reccord as of... 5 days i think) i was going to swim practice from high school and at a stop sign T intersection an old lady infront of me turns right, BUT slams on her breaks right in the middle of the road, and assuming she had turned all the way, I moved up to the stop line, looking at the car the lady had braked for coming down the hill... about 100yrds away, so I poked a hole in her back bumper, I freaked out, followed her, she ended up stopping at the post office so i turned in, said sorry that was me, she said "oh I thought it was my fault", and i was just so nervious i said, well maybe i could have prevented it or something, but once i said that, it was over, she got my info. and all that, so that's mark one.. which I would like to add, my dad saw her driving crazy and fast around the high school parking lot with a bunch of dents and "battle scars" on her car, he came home later and asked what color the car was, turned out she got into these kind of accidents all the time! lol..

So anyways 2nd mark would be a speeding ticket i got while taking an off ramp (which leads to another "mini-highway" Super 7 for those of you who know, and it was rush hour, traffic was going 70 or so, first exit to the right after merging onto super-7 (lots of cars in right lane) car infront of me was trying to get a space in the lane to exit, so i waited.. Id say a car length behind maybe more, eventually car moves over, I speed off, resuming speed from before (70-topped out at 80 but cruised rest of the way around 65-70) for about 2miles till end of super-7 (btw I even checked, no car near me for about 1/2 mile in either direction) so I am about to turn off super-7 and I see cop lights.. I'm thinking what the hell, did I run the red light or something? lol (took right on red, and no sign saying i can't) state cop gives me the whole deal, said he picked me up with lazer (made a comment about how my radar detector didn't do much for me...) he took a guess at my speed i just said sure w/e, (the whole attitude of the cop was sorta a power driving/smart ass tone) anyways I go for my registration, he sees a warning ticket i had gotten like a year before for going 40 in a 30.. he gives me a speech about how obviously those cops thought i would learn my lesson bla bla bla, anyways end of the story is $500 ticket, 300 for speeding (never showed me actual speed he got me at, just had an estimate on the ticket), i think $125 for not having my license (just got back from college and forgot wallet at home,no car at school for 1st year too) and the remaining money for "following to closely" which i was unable to get a word in there about what was going on, (he said it looked like i was ridding the cars ass until he moved over lol) so anyways luckily the court reduced that ticket to $250 but still sucked.

Last story and biggest booster of insurance, last year around Oct. (which btw first incident happened in dec. ticket in oct. and this last one in oct too lol, something about Oct-Dec. that gets my into trouble with cars i guess?..) Anyways I was out one night (had a 3month old passat GLX very nice, just got tint/sound system hooked up) and i was borred 1 night, and tried to take a wide off ramp that I have wanted to do for a while by trying to kinda "drift" the turn a little, (my first car, Crown Vic. I use to do all sorts of s*** with it) and going around the turn, its a little wet out so i figure i can spin the tires pretty easy and not be going fast and just catch traction again, so tires don't spin so I slow down and just gas it real fast, they spin, I'm not use to front wheel drive cars, so i step on breaks and the car (going about 5-10mph) bumps along the guard rail like a damn bumper car.. hits every single panel, which i will post for kicks.. mine as well lol, but anyways the labor on that car made it "totaled" mostly because the back panel they had to cut it off, take out the glass and weld a new one back on.. oh and btw, the front tire was tweaked a little i think it was like an axle pin or something.. was bent wrong way...

Those are my stories, I'm a 20yr old male, at "high risk" so I get nailed.. and now its going to get real bad lol.. pics are below of my previous "love" (first stick car too, which is how i found my MSP) Now its time to drive, when I actually do end up driving again, to drive like an old lady.... or at least nothing over the speed limit and no late night rally driving lol

they tried to up my insurance after getting hit by lightning and them spending about 2K more on the car than what it was worth...but I had to do some calling around and got that taken care of (act of nature doesn't count as your fault)

don't know how old you are...but at 25 your insurance will drop....mine didn't drop much...like $10 a month or something.....but when you hit 30 (yes I'm old) wow....it will drop like a rock. I pay $130 a month for two "sports" cars full coverage with all the bells and whistles....with a $300 deductible. WOOT for old age lol
 
i bet that s*** could be fixed - buy it back, strip the front down, check the frame, if its not bad, (no suspension damage), spend a little $$ getting everything cleaned up down low. do all the stripping yourself, bring the car to a good collision shop, two three days and you'll be ready to start bolting new parts on. cf hood, aluminum rad, FMIC, etc. other option would be to find a salvaged protege that was hit in the back or side. something that doesn't have front end damage. then you have a whole front clip to work with. might be to much to take on, but its a Spicy, resurrect that b****.

just get a tercel to drive while you work on it.

if it's just the very front that is bent, a good shop might be able to straighten it and weld some steel on for strength and then you'ld be kosher
 
First gear crash? At what RPM, 8000? And did I miss it? What did you hit?

Not trying to be a dick, but that's a lot more damage than I expected when you said "first gear crash".

Otherwise, I agree with the above poster. Before you commit to that route, check a)what this will do to your insurance---turbo may not be the best choice for you at this time b) the cost of the major parts you will need---air bags in particular. Good luck.
 
Ya, I've been thinking about it, I still have to talk it over with my dad, but as far as insurance, I still have at least 5 more years (said I was 20) before any type of drop.. and ya I was really surprised that it was that much dmg in 1st gear lol but what i remember happening after doing a k turn the road is a bend and there is a road (the one that i was turning out of) in the middle of the "U" bend.. a wider U, but anyways turned left, hit the gas, and the turbo ended up kicking in, which is what i wasn't expecting and the car pretty much didn't turn and it only took about 2sec to go from 1 side of the road to onto the grass on the other side, "pop up" on the grass and nail a low stone wall, because it was so slow, pop on the stone wall and shave the bark (6X6") area off a smaller tree (about 1' diameter id say) as far as rpm, i don't know, my guess is I let my foot off the gas, which about when I was pulled off the road at....5k-5.5k maybe at most, it really hit everything just on the corner of the car.. which is also why i think there is so much "pinpoint" damage to there.

Once i get things settled with my dad, I am already buying the car back, valued at $11,131.38 with the $500 deduct. already taken out, which i think is slightly lower than what it should be valued at.. but anyways buying the car back, I will get $9,756 +car w/salvage tittle. and the estimated repair for the car the guy said is ~$10k or so, which once I get things worked out I will hopefully get a more accurate estimate and be able to get my car back to "ask good as new" because in the end, I would rather spend some more money to get my car back, than spend more money anyways to buy a new car that I really don't want as much.... minus all the $$ on aftermarket parts...

Insurance like I said is the kicker, which I will be hoping that if I can get my car repaired (praying) that I will take that car off the insurance, garage it and either not drive for a few months and then get a junker at some point, or just get a junker now and have that on the insurance, and just add the msp during the summer or at some point when i have more money..

which brings me to the question, so far I have seen the OEM hood, w/o paint for like ~$300 roughly, the CF hood i was looking at 1.) would be the EVO style for $700, or just the normal OE CF for ~$500.. anyone know how these look painted spicy orange??.. I'm not a huge fan of the CF look on the spicy, and if I could paint it spicy, and have it look ok (I realize that its still going to look CF with paint on it) but anyone have any pics.. might be good to look at..

If your interested in an MP3 I know of one for 5k, PM for deatails. You could drop your turbo kit and everything onto it. Just a thought...
 
haha, ya i thought about it, (converting/swaping to an mp5) but the fact that even if I was able to buy another MSP I would want it to be the Spicy or nothing makes me realize that a conversion from the MSP would just seem wrong...

but anyways anyone ever seen a Spicy with CF hood?.. any photoshopers out there?
 
I saved a few pics myself of painted spicy CF hoods. I have one sitting in my dads garage that I'm deciding on how I want to paint.
