Well, I had the Mazda enthusiast's ride of a lifetime on Friday. I figure there's a pretty good chance some of the frequenters of this forum may have been among my spotting.
My morning started going up and down Grand on my way to work and playing a "race up and down third gear" game with a black mica speed6. But.. the day got really weird after I got home from work.
My pleasant drive to dinner on Friday evening started at the Shell station on 83 and Grand Avenue in Lake Villa where at the pump across from mine was a spicy orange Protege. The driver was presumably inside the store. I headed down Grand, picked up the girlfriend, between the Lindenhurst police station and 45, my twin, a true red ms3 came around the opposited side. This MS3 had some sort of toy or something suction cupped to the window. I actually believe I've seen it before in traffic on 94 on the way home from work.
I make a right onto 45 and come up to the red light on Rollins road and a black third gen rx-7 goes through the intersection. At this point I'm thinking there's some vast conspiracy out to thrill me in a way that my girlfriend can not begin to understand. I'm telling her how much I wanted an RX-7 before I bought my speed3 as I resume driving only to pass ANOTHER true red speed3 going the opposite direction, back towards grand.. We flashed brights.
On 45 up past 120.. I don't remember the name of the road I was going around a car making a turn at the intersection and stopped on the other end of the intersection behind another car waiting to turn was yet one more sunlight silver ms3. We honked at each other and exchanged waves.
Reaching my destination at "On the Border" in Vernon Hills I was again elated to see a clean, blue P5 in the parking lot of the movie theatre attached to the resturant's parking.
Anyway... I thought it was pretty crazy. I'm generally an observant driver and I can't say I've ever seen so many nice Mazdas on a 10 mile drive. I figured I'd see if any of the guilty drivers were some of the fellow mazda-fanatics in this forum. Any takers?
