speed3 CAI suggestions

hey guys, i just got my speed3 back in December and its still just all stock, but im trying to get some suggestions on some CAI's to put in there, and i understand if i you put anything other than the speed3 intake, it will void warrenty and i acutally dont want that to happen.

So if my above info is correct, i was just looking for some suggestions on places to FIND the speed3 intake online becuase i went to the dealership and noone there knows anything about it, but personally i think they are all idiots.

So if anyone has suggestions about intakes and or exaust cat-back systems please share and any links would be helpful (wiggle) thanks

*edit*

also if anyone has any numbers as to the HP increase of the speed3 intake vs. any of the other popular ones please share as well

Welcome.

Use the search function. There are too many threads on CAI's and warranty. The vendor section lists the vendors who support this site. Corksport, Protegegarage, PT-Tuning and CP-E make parts for these cars as well support the site. Try Ron Tonkin MAzda for Mazdaspeed parts.
There are also more than a few dyno comparisons to be found as well.

Enjoy

the deal is most dealerships say if you have the intake installed by the dealer, that is, the MAZDA brand Mazdaspeed intake, it won't void your warranty. However if you install it yourself, some dealerships may try and run you off, some will just assume you got it from another dealer. It all depends, but I'd bet my right thumb that if you get the mazdaspeed intake, atleast one of the nearby mazda dealers near you would not be bothered by it. Not all dealers are a like. So what I'm saying is, go here and buy it. The retailer is an awesome guy too, and a very regular poster on this forum. <3

thanks for the clarification Equinox, i will check it out.... i was planning on putting it in myself and if a dealer asked i could say i got it installed elsewhere etc, i doubt they will plague me for paperwork etc (hump)

mazdaspeed cold air is going to be my 1st mod also on my MS3. It's a simple install but does anyone know what the average stealership is charging for a install on one?

The 12 month/12,000 mile warranty is on the CAI itself (parts). If you have the intake installed at the dealer they, well most dealers, warranty the install as well. So if for some reason you need to have the Mazdaspeed CAI replaced, you pay nothing. Now if you choose to install it yourself, there is no warranty on the removal and reinstallation but again the part is warrantied.

Secondly, I know your new and welcome, but there is plenty of this same information on these forums about warranty issues. Now here is the bottom line with any aftermarket performance part. You can install any aftermarket part on your car and if something breaks, the dealer must prove the aftermarket part was the cause of the malfunction or the part to fail. That is fact and that is law. Now if you go with Mazdaspeed products and say your MAS Air Flow sensor goes out because of your Mazdaspeed CAI, well your MAS will be covered under warranty because you have a Mazdaspeed performance part and therefore the Mazda part was defective. If you installed an aftermarket CAI and it caused the MAS to go out, your buying a new MAS. I hope this helps.

They range from $300 - $335. Give Ron Tonkin Mazda a call and you can buy one for $310 shipped. They also sponser this Website vice others that may buy it a little cheaper from others, but are not participating sponsers.

Thanks for the heads up, i'd be all about helping sponsers on the site

If you have a Mazdaspeed "Blue" part installed by the dealer, it is warrantied by either 12/12000 or the remainder of your bumper to bumper coverage which was 36/36000 for me. If you install it yourself you get 12/12000 only.

They seem to be charging about $150-$250 Ive seen on the board here,Its a hugh ripoff.I installed mine in under a hour and it was my first on this car.Do not have them do it unless you have money you dont want or need.

Well, for how easy a CAI is to install, you can pretty much buy any one you want and remove it before you take the car in for any service or warranty work. They take all of 30 minutes to install and require no cutting or modification to anything else. I still plan on getting a mazdaspeed intake, just cause I like the splash shield it includes and that it's a dryflow filter. I dont see that shield in the injen kit, but maybe they just dont picture it or something.
