Speed Ratings, esp H versus V

Currently the door jam spec says 102V and have been wondering about the 102H rating for a '08 GT.

I tried searching for any discussions on the differences but could not find any. One dealer refuses to sell me the 102H tire. Originally he said I needed a 92V and I corrected them.

The 102H from Goodyear is around $115 vs $245 for a 102V.

Anyway is there anyone using a 102H on a '08 GT? (thought) And can someone post some pro and cons if I buy the 102h???

Thanks!

Top speed of CX9 is less than 130mph. (I recall it is around 110mph - electronic limited)
H-rated is way enough.
Consider more on other factors such as UTQG than speed rating.

Just buy what you want on Tirerack or Discount tire direct..

and get them mounted at a local shop..

The Dealer will **** you no matter..

Thanks for the replies!

I purchased the 102H at a known local tire shop!

Additionally I learned the difference in the H vs the V is a bit more than just speed related. V rating has different sidewalls, softer compound among other things. If I was considering them for the Porsche then the choice would be clearly the V rating.

Thanks again! This is a great forum!!

Speed rating highly depends on the tire construction.
Less flexing/vibration at high speed obviously means higher rating
(less heat generated).
