Thank you - I now recall this is what I did. Big relief!I did mine according to the manual on the spark plug packaging - finger-tight, then quarter turn or what was it.

it depends on the engine.. the protege had 11 to 16ft lbs, and the mazdaspeed version was 8 to 17ft lbsIn general, 10 lb/ft is a good torque for most spark plugs.
