Spec clutches

Just put about 200 miles on my new Spec Stage 3 Hybrid and it feels stock with a bit sharper engagement and it grabs hard.

How do you like the stage 3? Thats what I want when I turbo mine, but didn't need it till then!

Spec Stage 2 starting Break-in

Spec stage 2 just installed, only 200 miles so far:

feels stock with a bit sharper engagement:rolleyes:[/QUOTE said:
That's basically it ... just seems like I have to let it out a little quicker.
If I let it out slowly (like a stock clutch, it just barely kind of "skips" on the transition from dis-engaged to engaged.

If you can understand what I'm describing, is this normal for a hi-perf clutch ?
Is this something that goes away after break-in ?

Thanks All !

A Little Clutch Help, Please ?

HELP ?

Anyone ever have this skipping, or "juddering" clutch in between engaged and
disengaged during break in (especially for a stage 2 spec clutch) ?
This is miserable in stop and go traffic, but once you get past 1st gear
startup, it is fine.

I talked to two different tech guys at Spec, and they said this is normal
and will go away .... 550 miles so far, very little if any change.

Is this normal ?

Will it go away ?

Will my clutch ever have a smoother transition from engaged to disengaged ?

Thats normal on good gripping disks. Remember, every upgrade you do to the clutch, the harsher engagement you will have.

The smoothest clutch I ever had is ACT PP with the 50/50 disk, feels like stock, a bit more stiffer pedal but will hold for about 260whp.

get spec cluthes here,I recamend the the true stage 3 instead of the hybrid,I own the hybrid, and I took it out to take a look at it during break in,after 40 miles, and I have to say,it is not a well built clutch.

I have seen the stage 3 FF,and I can say it is a lot better made.

my problem isn't with the company either,I like spec, and trust there clutches,it's just that this one is not a very good design, they tried to make a clutch cheap hold power.

there is no listing on any official SPEC website. the hybrid is different in that its a stage 3 on one side of the disk, and a stage 2 on the other side. This was developed when Beau of Mental Addiction Motorsports made a specific request for a clutch of these specifications to SPEC.

the flywheel is certainly a nicely machined peice as well.

both can be purchsed from www.**************************.com/cart

yeah,I put the link above, your too late!

jk.

Just my two cents. I have the spec stage 3, and the Fidanza flywheel. I really like them. The clutch disk I have is a full 6 puck rather than the webed 6 puck that I've seen put in other protege's.
