So after 2k miles i felt comfortable putting the New MS3 through its paces. As I start off in first and throw it into 2nd (aggressively) I hear a load Popping sound. I dont know if its a backfire or if my engine mounts are about to split. Since i heard the noise a couple of times I haven't been driving like an asshole. I just want to know what that noise is if anyone has experienced it. Is it the rubber mount of the engine bottoming out from the Torque?

Does the car shutter or is it a popping sound like a gunshot? I am just guessing, but here are some of my thoughts. If the car physically shutters, you are probably feeling the wheel hop due to torque, caused by the rear engine mount being too soft. If it is more like a gunshot out of the exhaust, then it could be a backfire, which could indicate a bad seal on the turbo. I could be wrong though.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I think it's the rear motor mount. I installed corksport inserts and I heard that same sound at the track. I banged second gear and it sounded like my mount broke. Everything should be fine though. I remember hearing that same sound before I put the inserts in as well, back when I first bought the car.

Its is most likely your mm cause wheel hop or just backfirering.You should be able to tell the two apart because the wheel hop will shake the car and backfirering will just sound like a muffled gun shot.

its definitely not wheel hop, and its not a backfire. It sounds like the Motor Mount bottoming out. Im taking it to the dealer next week to see what he says about it, but im sure hes gonna tell me not to drive like an asshole.

traction control off, chirpin gears and pullin broadies...very agressive driving smoking first and second and a piece of third. god these cars are alot of fun. When i test drove it at the dealer I had the biggest shittiest grin on my face. I knew I had to have one.

lol! Yeah I think that qualifies for driving like an asshole.
