I just took my car to the muffler shop and had the hole put in for my second o2 sensor behind the cat on the exhaust. But now I need to get the wireing to make the o2 sensor longer. I went to pep boys and the told me I have to go to a dealer. Does anyone have any suggestions I need to register my car.

I should probably have these laying around on my spare motor. Let me see what I can do.

Just checked, I do not have them, sorry.

Thanks for checking, the dealer wont give me the wires unless i but the o2 sensor and they want 270$ for it. OUCH! and Pep Boys wants 99$ but they have to order it.Cars may like them, but I hate them!

they told me not to cut the wires. they said it would not work again, I dont know why, but I dont want to risk it if they were right. Hasn't anybody else done this mod?

I don't know why cutting it wouldn't work, unless it has something to do with the resistance in the wiring but still you could get around that.

I think they are telling you that so you can spend that $250 or whatever it is on a brand new one. But you are right, I wouldn't cut it either untill I found out more about it.

I have extended o2 wires a few times before. You have to solder them and wrap them tight. To extend the wires I use 16 (or 18 if you can't find the 16) gauge sound and security 4 cond. wire from home depot (make sure it's not the solid wire). it's not too expensive, you can get just a few feet of it for a few dollars and it will work fine.

just make sure you write down what color wires you are using on each side and do not cross them. pm me or call me (650-245-5472) if you need any help with finding the right wires for it. just take your time and do not use too much solder, just coat them nicely after they are twisted together. electrical tape it and use a wire loom to protect it. make sure you zip-tie them away from the exhaust piping itself.

Hey thanks a lot man, I think I get it. I'll let you know if I have any questions. But thanks for the start.

ya mine are extended atleast 3 feet an i have had no problems.... i used 18 ga wire with enviro splices ( metal center crimped conductor with a plastic heat shield with glue on each end) no problems so far and i did that with my primary o2 sensor......
