So whats the next Speed edition from Mazda?

As history tells us, mazda only makes speeds for the final 2 years before a major redesign or change of model. The only car that is long in the tooth currently is the rx-8. So I think the rx-8 is next for the speed treatment. Unless the pontiac solstice gxp encourages mazda to bring out a speed miata early.

I would jump on an RX-8 so fast, ah man that would be sweet. It would have well over 300hp and be RWD with no engine movement under hard acceleration due to the rotary.

All the you tube videos show the engine remain motionless for dynos and some of the other videos were crazy fast on acceleration.

united states SUCKS...we never get the good stuff!, except for the mazdaspeed protege ;)

anyways, hopefully we can have a Mazdaspeed MPV, imagine the soccer moms picking up their team on a turbocharged VAN with a loud ass BOV....sweetness

They still make an MPV? lol.

@ elderlycoffee - a true mazdaspeed rx-8 does not exsist. Just mazdaspeed parts such as suspension and body kits.

i think a mazdaspeed mx-5 would be sick with the 2.3l DISI in it. but thats just my .02

^ But rotary care and maintenance gives me the heebie-jeebies.
It gives mazda the same feeling which is why the RX-8's competition is blowing past 300 hp and the RX8 is still piss poor at around 230. Most family sedans have more power these days. Lets not even go into the pathetic torgue, jesus my spelling is better.
The majority of the population in the US wants something with torgue and ALOT higher horsepower if they are to pay $32K for a car thats supposed to be a sports car. The reality is that the MS version would likey have 5 more hp at best and that would make it a friggen rolling joke on this side of the pond. Paying a premium on a special, supped up sports car with 235 hp...so lame

Final Though:
PRODUCE A ROTARY WITH 300 HP or shut down the production line.

MS5. Seats six, six speed, dual sliding doors, MS3 engine, lowered, tightened suspension! Make it happen, I'll take two!

Final thought - 2.3 DISI swap into an rx-8.

I don't see it ever happening but if it did the car would be on of the best cars under $40,000.00 in the modern car era. If it handled as good as the rx-8 and had 300+ I don't think I could drive it on the street. It would be a race everywhere I go.

whoever mentioned the mazdaspeed mpv, check out the mpv in japan. it has the 2.3 turbo in it. a mazdaspeed rx-8 would be great, but i would rather see a 3 rotor and not have to worry about the turbo. mazda won lemans with a 400 horsepower 4 rotor. it produced 700 or 800 horsepower at like 8000 rpm's! now that would be fun! but a 3 rotor in the renesis design would easily eclipse 300 horses. and as of the last mazda training i went too, mazda was working on a new rotory to be released in 2010 as a 2011 model.

Mazdaspeed5 as meantion by Foolish.
