So the MS3 is really governed regarding top speed!!

Well, I've been dying to know what the top speed of the MS3 is and whether its governed...

My preliminary tests show that (in my vehicle) the speedo needle stopped at the 150MPH mark. It (the needle) moved at a descent speed pace throughout the speedo range right until it hit 150 and stopped...
(yupnope) I was hoping at least for 155MPH... My goal (my wish) was to go passed 160MPH.

Anyway, my next trial will be with my GPS and get an accurate measurement...(drive)

I've had mine around 135-140, and on the way out to San Marcos a while back, I hit 150. I didn't hold it there, didn't know the roads all that well, I just hit 150 held it for a second and lifted. But I ahve seen the mags get 'er up to 160.

I don't know how they did that...
Like I said, my needle was moving at a steady pace right up until 145-150...then it stopped at 150 and I held it there at WOT and the needle didn't move...

Is it because I ran out of power to push the car through all the friction?
Does it suddenly creep to 155-160 once it hits 150?

i don't understand why it matters if it can only go 150

I like to know the operational limits of my car...

I don't have the balls to get it up that high to peak out my needle; after 120 every mph seems like an eternity although it's probably tenths of a second. I just keep thinking, "If I get pulled over he's going to **** me with his stick and press the gun in the back of my neck and I am going straight to jail and it will screw up everything in my life..." Maybe a touch dramatic and unrealistic, but admittedly, just a touch. I'm positive if I got clocked at 140+ I'd be going straight to jail. That would SUCK.

I do have a plan however to pick a nice flat run of interstate in the country, drive a 10 mile section up and down twice, then get on and do my 150 run. That's the best I can think of without a spotter or two, and hell I do have a buddy with an SRT-4 who would be up for a little day trip to get to the appropriate section of interstate so we could spot for each other.

Just don't stop...

can't outrun motorola. especially in a car that only goes 150

(rofl)(rofl2)(lol)(lol2)

So true... Though, I wouldn't stop either till I'd get to the next exit and whip a couple of turns and disappear... LOL

Though you do have to time it right...pick a time of day or night where traffic is non-existant and you know (positively sure) that there are no cops in that area.

guess I'll say it, I'm sure you've all heard it. The speedo is useless to determine an accurate MPH at that pace. You might be able to get a semi-accurate idea of your speed by using your RPM, but you should probably log for the accurate RPM from the ECU - this assuming you are on OEM size tires. So you could have been going 140-160, who knows.

Report back with your GPS readings.

Oh and be careful, please. Use a section of the "track" with no intersections, driveways, or on-ramps, because you never know when granny might accidentally drive on the track on some midnight adventure in her mind. :)

it didn't take that long to get to 160mph(262knh) even a guy on you tube hit 262kmh thats 160mph! our cars over here must be governed

We await your personal vid showing how just how long it doesn't take. Me, I admit I'm a big chicken and every tenth of a second would feel like a five minutes as I anticipate the flashing lights and imagine how much fun it would be to get arrested for what is cleary, unquestionably, beyond-any-doubt, crazy and reckless driving. Alright, maybe I'd do it if I was somewhere out in West Texas.

what does my car have to do with it? in the vid there is another speed doing it? my point is.. that maybe over here our cars are governed and in eurpoe maybe they are not! What the hec does me trying it in my car have to do with the argument?????

As soon as the weather clears ill do a 0-160 pull for your guys. Fair enough? It will do it and do it quick. LOL
