i know i was already raggin on here earlier about this but its just such BS. the dealership wont cover this because they said by me painting my calipers it made this happen. these pics are my REAR brakes. i havnt changed the fronts yet and they still have tons of pad life left. so now the rear pads are supposted to go before the fronts???? i dont think so. and to make it worse they wanna **** u on the prices of parts at the dealership. they wanted somewhere around $100 for the rear pads then like $80 per rear rotor. so i got some aftermarket pads from one of the only places ive even found that carries anything for our cars and ordered some brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors. ill post pics when i get the rotors in and installed.

Hey man, sorry to hear that BS that the dealer gave you....I cant understand how that happened....BUT you gotta look on the bright side....those Brembos are gonna look sick!!!!!!

I ran into a similar scenerio where my dealer claimed I had normal wear on my rear brakes and they were almost worn out (5% left or something). Nothing could be covered under warranty cause they detected no unordinary wear (basically claiming it wore out evenly)

I go to another dealer and find out that it is only one rear pad that is worn 5% and they fix it under warranty on the spot since I've done all my maintenance services.

Mazda3Zoom: What does the outside pad look like? If the inside one is the only one that's blown out like that, then you may have painted the gummed up the caliper slide with paint. That would definitely void the warranty.

How many miles do you have now?

paint your calipers with a sponge brush, you have a lot of control on where the paint goes.

If you're referring to me, I reported squeeling multiple times to my dealer and everytime they said nothing was wrong... squeeling is gone now, never going back to that dealer again.

So you drove your 3 till the pads and rotors looked like that?

You didn't happen to notice any noise, smells or lack of stoping power what must have been days even weeks or months before it got to that point?

Any way I dont see how painting the caliper could do that.. Are they saying that the paint kept the heat from dissipating properly or are they saying you painted the whole pad and or rotors?

The though brings to ming some guys i saw on the highway the other day.. Bright yellow hand painted ricer mobile. Even the tires and rotors had paint on them.. They though they were cool no joke.. Trying to get my attention and act cool they nearly crashed making the exit ramp.

Where the pads contact the caliper and where the caliper contacts the caliper support needs to be free of paint and lubricated so the slide mechanism will work properly.
If the slide is not working properly, you will wear out the inside pad and the outside pad will look virtually untouched.

This applies to ANY vehicle, not just the Mazda3.

exactly what happened to me and I got it fixed under warranty after I ditched a stupid dealer for a better one.

yeah the outside pad was good. but when i took it all apart the sliders werent even dirty, they had a little paint on them but not alot. i made sure when i put it back together that i cleaned the sliders really good (took some fine sand paper to them to get the paint and gook off them) and grease them good too. i also repainted my calipers while i had them off. this time rather then use the spray paint i bought the stuff that u brush on. u can control where the paint goes alot better that way. anyways heres some pics. ive only done the rears so far cuz the front rotors arent here yet.
GW: im at 35,500 miles now (and the front pads and rotors still look awesome)

yeah i know, but my cars been in the garage for about the last month and go figure as soon as i get it together today its snowin outside so it would be pointless to wash it. im sick of winter. im movin to AZ or sumthin.lol (cool)

oh yeah, the wheels are the factory color. there painted a graphite color so that might have sumthin to do with them lookin weird
