So the dealer can enable auto locks? Confused

:
2008 CX-9
Somebody said on this thread the dealer can turn on autlocks(doors lock at 5 or 10MPH)? Anybody know the steps involved to program with their m mazda computer? I am taking delivery tonight and want to confirm that it can be enabled so I can ask them to take care of it while I'm there.

Seems like I have seen an equal number of posts that you it doesn't come with this feature....

The auto lock feature is not what you're describing. It locks the vehicle after it's shutoff, all the doors are closed and the intelligent key has vacated the vehicle. It has nothing to do with locking the doors while driving.

not_too_shabby, the feature that enables the doors to lock around 5 or 10 mph can be done via vehicle owner, however it can't be done on 2008 models, only newer models.

Mazda3 is right, the dealer CAN program you vehicle to unlock the doors when you walk up to the vehicle, and lock the doors when you walk away. Supposedly the dealer will do it the first time for you for free, and then if you want that feature un-done, they will charge you. (I think that is a bad feature)

Only lock, not unlock.
It is good if you often have your hands full. No need to push the button on the door handle.

Just picked up touring and the salesman was telling me that the door will unlock automatically when you walk up to the car. I looked through the manual and found nothing that indicates there is auto unlock feature. I only saw auto lock.

Next time when you go to that dealership, ask the salesman to show you how that can be done.
Stand by and watch....

There is no auto-"unlock". I read through the new CX5 brochure.
Still the same. Auto-lock when you walk away.

In fact, it is not technically difficult to auto-unlock, but is it a good feature, though?
If you happen to walk by your own vehicle, and it unlocks itself. Isn't that annoying?
Pushing a rubber button on the door handle isn't that much of work really since you
need to pull the handle anyway to get in. You can do both in one motion.

If there was really such a feature, I definitely would turn it off.
