Off Topic: So slow I'm ashamed...

I’ll likely get at least 8 or 10 years out of my current desktop for gaming purposes.

Started with the following AM platform in 2020:
AMD 3600
RTX 2070
32GB RAM
2TB NVMe storage
4TB 7200 rpm backup
X570 mobo

I quickly upgraded the graphics card on a whim when a 3080 became available on Newegg, purchased in under a minute during COVID graphic card craziness, sold the 2070 for what I bought it for. Several months ago, I added 32GB of matching RAM and upgraded the processor. All of the hardware is the same as initial build except for:

AMD 5800
RTX 3080
64 GB RAM

I never did anything to address how badly the GPU was sagging in the case until last week. I didn’t want to buy a mount and figured somebody must have a stl file to 3D print a GPU mount. I wasn’t disappointed, I found and 3D printed a GPU “jack stand” out of black PETG XD

I love the little jack stand! That's neat!

For others that don't have a 3d printer,https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) that work really well.

Or, something else I just finished up a few days ago, I did my first vertical GPU in my older son's computer. I do have to say I love the way it looks.

I tried that floor mount thing in my new case and It just didn't sit right. Don't even remember what the problem was. Never even knew a 'pci' mount was a thing. That's neat, as is the 3D printed one. Not worried about it at this point though.

If you get a heavy card, especially a modern triple slot 3 fan one, the board can and will sag after time. And that ain't good, as not only is your expensive GPU turning into a noodle, it also puts undo pressure on the motherboard's PCI-E slot.

On a 2 slot 2 fan card, it's not as bad, but it still ain't good. Putting a brace under the card is cheap insurance, especially considering what GPU's and motherboards cost today.

I'm not a fan of most vertical mounts. If it's too close to the side panel then the cooling is likely to be worse.

On the other hand it releives pressure from what it would have in a traditional mount considering the gigantic heatsinks these days.

This is true, depending on the design of the case. The case that my wife's build is in, it would be no bueno, because it would only leave like 1/4" gap between the fans and the side panel.
However, in my son's case, there is a good 3" between the card and the side panel. That's absolutely perfect for good airflow.

There's also angled GPU mounts today, too. Those are pretty cool for sure.

Whatever you do, the card has to be supported. There's no choice there anymore. Fact is, a lot of cases like my son's Phanteks NV5 came with a built in GPU support bracket. I used it when we first built his rig, but I wasn't super impressed with how it looked, that's why I found the argb one I linked to earlier.

In my rig, my case lays on its side, so I don't have a bracket. I don't need one!

I understand being cautious but I don't see how my card is going to sag if it is securely attached to the rear of the case. That's plenty of support. So far, anyway.
Unob, case looks very much like mine. Do you have ports on top? Actually love that. Might be my favorite feature of this case.

I forget what card you have, so might be fine. Its more the gigantic 3 and 4 slot heatsinks they are putting on some of the newer ones that are problematic.

Here's my current. Could probably squeeze some more out of the 5900X if I voltage tuned it again, but I hated doing that and just put it back on PBO + some minor tuning.

For the 3080 Ti, the 16277 was stock, and the 17594 was with a 114% power limit, +120 core, +1000 memory overclock.

I haven't been gaming much the past few months, but I still kinda want to upgrade next year. Still running pretty well, but I want a new case and to probably ditch the hard tubing which is a pain to do any maintenance with.

My case with it’s measly two front fans and one rear fan XD

It keeps the 5800 CPU below 70 C and the 3080 GPU in the 60s, but it probably isn’t anywhere near quiet as yall’s rigs. The cooler master 212 does a really good job in junction with the case but wouldn’t want to game without a headset covering my ears.

Download a free application called Fan Control. It works miracles quieting down your rig.

Also, everybody and their brother has used a 212 at one time or another! I have one in my XP rig right now!

Hyper 212 has just always been that right combo of great over stock heatsink upgrade for not very much $$$.

Fan Control is awesome. I'm using Aquasuite right now since I have a couple of their products in my rig, but Fan Control can do a lot of the really cool functions Aquasuite does, but for free.
